Solar Orbiter encounter with Venus, 18 March 2028

This figure shows the orbital configuration of STEREO Ahead (red) during the encounter of Solar Orbiter (orange) with the planet Venus on 18 March 2028. The dashed orange line represents the orbit following the encounter.

The following figure shows the progression of Solar Orbiter through the fields of view of the STEREO/SECCHI telescopes. The images are simulated, based on data from earlier in the STEREO mission.
