COR1 Tomographic Electron Density Reconstructions

Coronal electron density at a height of 2.5 R_sun during the first half of Carrington rotation 2101

The files below contain 3D tomographic reconstructions of the coronal electron density based on STEREO COR1 data. Computational details and data validation can be found in the paper described below under Acknowledgements. Reconstructions are available based on both COR1-A and COR1-B data; the COR1-B instrument tends to have a higher signal-to-noise ratio. An example showing how to read the data files can be found in the IDL-read directory.

COR1-A Reconstructions
  • fits: standard fits files containing 3D electron density reconstructions.
  • gif: gif images for density distributions at 2.5 Rsun for each reconstruction
  • IDL-read: IDL code for processing the reconstructions, including examples
  • Mov: mp4 density movies at 2.5 Rsun for reconstructions, and movies comparing COR1-A and -B solutions
  • Source-Code: F90 source code package and IDL data preparation scripts
  • stereo-pos: text files giving position information for STEREO-A and -B at the midpoint of each reconstruction period
  • Readem.txt: More detailed information about these directories.
COR1-B Reconstructions
  • fits: standard fits files containing 3D electron density reconstructions.
  • gif: gif images for density distributions at 2.5 Rsun for each reconstruction
  • IDL-read: IDL code for processing the reconstructions, including examples
  • Mov_N3D: mp4 density movies at 2.5 Rsun for reconstructions, and movies comparing COR1-A and -B solutions
  • Source-Code: F90 source code package and IDL data preparation scripts
