Important notice about STEREO Behind
Parker Solar Probe encounter with Venus, 11 July 2020
This figure shows the orbital configuration of STEREO Ahead (red) during
the encounter of Parker Solar Probe (orange) with the planet Venus on 11
July 2020. The dashed orange line represents the orbit following the
encounter. The two spacecraft are in quadrature during this encounter, which
means that the STEREO coronagraphs, including the Heliospheric Imager
telescopes, will have a good view of the material heading toward Parker
Note that the projected location of STEREO Behind is also plotted.
However, that spacecraft is not currently operational. Follow
for more information.
Also shown is the projected position of Solar Orbiter (purple) based on
a February 2020 launch date.
