Parker Solar Probe encounter with Venus, 3 October 2018

This figure shows the orbital configuration of STEREO Ahead (red) during the encounter of Parker Solar Probe (orange) with the planet Venus on 3 October 2018. The dashed orange line represents the orbit following the encounter. The two spacecraft are in quadrature during this encounter, which means that the STEREO coronagraphs, including the Heliospheric Imager telescopes, will have a good view of the material heading toward Parker Solar Probe.

Orbital plot

Note that the projected location of STEREO Behind is also plotted. However, that spacecraft is not currently operational. Follow this link for more information.
