STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2026-03-03 (Week 10) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 9 (Feb 23 - Mar 1) * On day 055 (Feb 24), APL conducted a NASCOM Network Maintenance from 19:15 through 20:30 UT. After the maintenance, the MOPs team verified the SLE telemetry and command connectivity with DSN. * On day 058 (Feb 27), during the DSS-54 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 07:04 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of one frame of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. * On day 058 (Feb 27), during the DSS-26 support, the beginning of track was delayed 12 minutes until 12:17 UT, due to a hardware problem. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 12 minutes of realtime telemetry, tracking, and SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. See DR #G125891 for more information. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 7.2 Gbits during this week. Week 10 (Mar 2-8) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * On Tuesday, March 3rd, a MOC IONET security scan is scheduled from 13:00 to 15:00 UT. * The Artemis II launch window originally scheduled from March 6-11 was cancelled. * Daylight Savings Time begins Sunday, March 8th. * Beginning Sunday, March 8th, SECCHI will be conducting special observations in conjunction with the Parker Solar Probe perihelion. Week 11 (Mar 9-15) * Ahead has fourteen passes during the week, eleven at 720 kbps, and three at 480 kbps. Overall coverage is nominal. * There will be an ESA New Norcia pass on Tuesday, March 10, from 18:20-21:25 UT. * There will be an ESA Malargue pass on Wednesday, March 11, from 12:30-13:45 UT. * There will be an ESA New Norcia pass on Saturday, March 14, from 18:45-21:45 UT. * See note below under "Other" regarding SDAC and SPDF moves during week 11. Week 12 (Mar 16-22) * Ahead has eleven passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * There is a DSN network maintenance event scheduled for Tuesday, March 17th, from 21:00-05:00 March 18th. Week 13 (Mar 23-29) * Ahead has fourteen passes during the week, all at 480 kbps and overall coverage is nominal. * There will be an ESA New Norcia pass on Monday, March 23rd, from 18:45-20:45 UT. * The 184th momentum dump is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24th, at 14:00 UT. * An ESA Malargue track is scheduled for Wednesday, March 25th, from 07:45 to 08:50 UT. * The 27th Solar Orbiter remote sensing window begins Sunday, March 29th. Week 14 (Mar 30 - Apr 5) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, four at 720 kbps, and nine at 480 kbps. Overall coverage is nominal. * The Artemis II launch opportunity window opens on Wednesday, April 1st, and closes Friday, April 10th. Week 15 (Apr 6-12) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 480 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * An ESA Malargue track is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8th, from 04:30 to 05:25. * An ESA Cebreros track is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8th, from 07:05 to 09:10. * An ESA Malargue track is scheduled for Thursday, April 9th, from 14:45 to 18:45. Other * The SPDF and SDAC have been told they will be moving to their new building during the week of March 9th. Service from those facilities will be disrupted during the move. The exact date of the move is unknown, though SPDF is advocating for a move as early in the week as possible in order to minimize service disruption. * Dan Wilson has all the Annual Health Assessment slides ready to publish on APL server.
