STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2025-12-09 (Week 50) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 49 (Dec 1-7) * On day 336 (Dec 2), during the DSS-84 (ESA Malargue) support, real-time telemetry and commanding were not available in the MOC, due to a DSN configuration problem. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 1.2 hours of real-time telemetry and commanding, and the delay of the SSR data delivery to the MOC. The MOPs team performed an off-line SLE telemetry playback after the track and recovered all the affected data. * On day 340 (Dec 6), APL conducted a commercial powered outage maintenance from 11:00 through 19:00 UT. The MOC operated on generator for the outage with no negative impact. * On day 337 (Dec 3), the 77th SECCHI stepped calibration was executed at 22:30 UT for aphelion in the Ahead orbit. This was the 46th SECCHI stepped calibration roll conducted without gyro use. * On day 338 (Dec 4), the MOPs team successfully conducted the 19th battery discharge event at 11:05 UT to redistribute the electrolytes within the nickel hydrogen battery cells. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 7.5 Gbits during this week. Week 50 (Dec 8-14) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Beginning today, December 9th, SECCHI will be conducting special observations in conjunction with the Parker Solar Probe perihelion, through December 14th. * The 1st DSN Emergency Control Center test track is scheduled to be completed today, December 9th, from 18:15-19:30 UT. There will be no SSR playback or instrument commanding during this track. * On Wednesday, December 10th, a MOC IONET security scan is scheduled from 12:00 to 13:00 UT. * DSN will be performing network maintenance on Thursday, Dec 11, between 17:00 to 21:00 UT. Week 51 (Dec 15-21) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * There will be an ESA New Norcia pass on Tuesday, Dec 16. Week 52 (Dec 22-28) * Ahead has eighteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The STEREO Operations telecon scheduled for Tuesday, Dec 23, will be canceled for the holidays. * APL will be closed for the Christmas holiday Thursday and Friday, Dec 25-26. Week 1 (Dec 29 - Jan 4) * Ahead has sixteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 182nd momentum dump is scheduled for Tuesday, December 30th, at 13:30 UT. * The STEREO Operations telecon scheduled for Tuesday, Dec 30th, will be canceled. * APL will be closed for the New Year's holiday Thursday and Friday, Jan 1-2. Week 2 (Jan 5-11) * Ahead has eleven passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 3 (Jan 12-18) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Other * The NASA Moon to Mars space weather office will be conducting a special campaign from December 29th to January 21st, related to the upcoming Mars solar conjunction. They have requested that they be notified of any special activities that may disrupt the availability of STEREO data during this time period.
