STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2025-11-04 (Week 45) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 44 (Oct 27-Nov 2) * On day 300 (Oct 27), during the DSS-65 support, commanding was delayed by 16 minutes until 03:33 UT, due to command modulation activating late. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 16 minutes of real-time commanding. See DR #M118402 for more information. * On day 302 (Oct 29), during the DSS-54 support, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently from beginning of track at 02:45 through 04:05 UT, due to heavy rain at the station. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 64516 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and eventually recovered all of the data by the subsequent DSS-26 support. See DR #M118409 for more information. * On day 305 (Nov 1), during the DSS-56 support, commanding was interrupted from 05:12 until 05:27 UT, due to a transmitter hardware issue. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 15 minutes of real-time commanding, 2-way tracking data, and 10087 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. See DR #M118419 for more information. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 7.5 Gbits during this week. Week 45 (Nov 3-9) * Ahead has fifteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * On Monday, November 4th, MOC server equipment was moved, permanently, to a new building. This resulted in the servers being down from about 6 am to 3 pm local time. The move went well and servers are once again fully operational. Week 46 (Nov 10-16) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * APL will be closed on Tuesday, November 11 for the Veterans Day holiday. There will be no Tuesday meeting this week. * An ESA Malargue track is scheduled for Thursday, November 13th, from 07:30 to 09:50 UT. * The 6th IMU2 EEPROM refresh is scheduled on Ahead on Thursday, November 13th, at 11:00 UT. This procedure is recommended by the manufacturer to be conducted every three years. Week 47 (Nov 17-23) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 181st momentum dump is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18th, at 18:30 UT. Week 48 (Nov 24-30) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * APL will be closed November 27th and 28th for the Thanksgiving holiday. Week 49 (Dec 1-7) * Ahead has fifteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * An ESA Malargue track is scheduled for Tuesday, December 2nd, from 07:00 to 08:10 UT. * The 72nd SECCHI stepped calibration roll is scheduled for Wednesday, December 3rd, at 22:30 UT. * The 19th battery discharge event will take place on Thursday, December 4th at 12:00 UT. Week 50 (Dec 8-14) * Ahead has eleven passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Beginning Tuesday, December 9th, SECCHI will be conducting special observations in conjunction with the Parker Solar Probe perihelia, through December 19th. * The 1st DSN Emergency Control Center test track will be conducted on Tuesday, December 9th, from 18:15-19:30 UT. There will be no SSR playback or instrument commanding during this track.
