STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2025-10-21 (Week 43) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 42 (Oct 13-19) * On day 286 (Oct 13), DSN conducted a Mission Network Maintenance from 06:30 through 14:30 UT. After the maintenance, the MOPs team verified the SLE telemetry and command connectivity with DSN. * On day 288 (Oct 15), during the DSS-83 (ESA Cebreros) support, real-time telemetry and commanding was not available in the MOC, due to a DSN network configuration problem. This anomaly resulted in the loss of two hours of real-time telemetry and commanding, and the delay of the SSR data delivery to the MOC until after the track. The MOPs team performed an off-line SLE telemetry playback and recovered all of the affected data. * On day 289 (Oct 16), during the DSS-24 support, the beginning of track was delayed ten minutes until 10:30 UT, due to the antenna failing to initially move to point. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 10 minutes of real-time telemetry, tracking, and SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. See DR #G125587 for more information. * On day 291 (Oct 18), during the DSS-65 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 03:10 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 101 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. See DR #M118377 for more information. * On day 291 (Oct 18), during the DSS-24 support, the uplink was lost between 11:01 and 11:16 UT, due to the transmitter tripping off. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 15 minutes of commanding and 2-way tracking data, and 2528 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. See DR #G125591 for more information. * On day 291 (Oct 18), APL conducted a commercial powered outage maintenance from 10:00 through 22:00 UT. The MOC operated on generator for the outage with no negative impact. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 7.7 Gbits during this week. Week 43 (Oct 20-26) * Ahead has fourteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Sunday, October 26th, is the 19th launch anniversary of STEREO! Week 44 (Oct 27-Nov 2) * Ahead has sixteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Daylight Savings Time ends Sunday, Nov 2nd. Week 45 (Nov 3-9) * Ahead has fifteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 46 (Nov 10-16) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * APL will be closed on Tuesday, November 11 for the Veterans Day holiday. * An ESA Malargue track is scheduled for Thursday, November 13th, from 07:30 to 09:50 UT. * The 6th IMU2 EEPROM refresh is scheduled on Ahead on Thursday, November 13th, at 11:00 UT. This procedure is recommended by the manufacturer to be conducted every three years. Week 47 (Nov 17-23) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 181st momentum dump is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18th, at 18:30 UT. Week 48 (Nov 24-30) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal.
