STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2025-09-23 (Week 39) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 38 (Sep 15-21) * On day 261 (Sep 18), during the DSS-25 support, monitor data was not available in the MOC from 11:45 to 13:09 UT, due to a DSN software issue. This anomaly resulted in the loss 13 minutes of real-time commanding. See DR #G125496 for more information. * On day 262 (Sep 19), during the DSS-55 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 03:11 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 91 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. See DR #M118306 for more information. * On day 262 (Sep 19), during the DSS-25 support, the transmitter was declared red, due to a hardware problem. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 3.9 hours of real-time commanding and 2-way tracking data. See DR #G125502 for more information. * On day 263 (Sep 20), during the DSS-56 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 02:13 UT and again at 05:15 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 174 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. See DR #M118310 for more information. * On day 264 (Sep 21), during the DSS-55 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 05:15 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 121 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. See DR #M118314 for more information. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 8.3 Gbits during this week. Week 39 (Sep 22-28) * Ahead has sixteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The IMAP launch originally scheduled for this morning, September 23rd, has been pushed back to tomorrow. This delay did not impact STEREO coverage, but if it slips again, to Thursday morning, we will likely lose the early morning track. Week 40 (Sep 29 - Oct 5) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 24th Solar Orbiter remote sensing window begins Wednesday, October 1st. Week 41 (Oct 6-12) * Ahead has fourteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 180th momentum dump is scheduled for Thursday, October 9, at 20:00 UT. Week 42 (Oct 13-19) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * There is a DSN network maintenance event scheduled for Monday, October 13th, from 06:30-14:30 UT. Week 43 (Oct 20-26) * Ahead has fifteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 44 (Oct 27-Nov 2) * Ahead has sixteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal.
