STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2025-07-29 (Week 31) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 30 (July 21-27) * On day 203 (Jul 22), during the DSS-25 support, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently between 10:07 and 10:34 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 16 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. * On day 204 (Jul 23), during the DSS-35 support, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently between 18:25 and 18:57 UT, due to a Monitor Data Server (MDS) problem. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 42856 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. See DR #C118543 for more information. * On day 204 (Jul 23), the 178th momentum dump was executed successfully at 19:05 UT, which imparted an estimated delta V of 0.050 m/sec. This was the 97th momentum dump conducted without gyro use. After thruster operations completed, there was a 0.7 degree of roll angle error. Fine pointing stabilized 2.9 minutes after completion of the momentum dump. * On day 205 (Jul 24), during the DSS-34 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 20:52 and 21:03 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 13 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. * On day 206 (Jul 25), during the DSS-26 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 13:58 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 55 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the subsequent DSS-55 track and recovered all the affected data. See DR #G125334 for more information. * On day 208 (Jul 27), during the DSS-54 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 05:55 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of two frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 8.5 Gbits during this week. Week 31 (July 28-Aug 3) * Ahead has fifteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * There is a DSN network maintenance event scheduled from Thursday, July 31st, at 23:00 to Friday, August 1st, at 02:00 UT. Week 32 (Aug 4-10) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 33 (Aug 11-17) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 34 (Aug 18-24) * Ahead has fourteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 35 (Aug 25-31) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 76th SECCHI stepped calibration roll is scheduled for Monday, August 25th, at 21:00 UT. * There is a DSN network maintenance event scheduled on Wednesday, August 27th, from 15:00-23:00 UT. Week 36 (Sep 1-7) * Ahead has seventeen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * APL will be closed on Monday, Sep 1, for the Labor Day holiday. * An ESA Cebreros track is scheduled for Wednesday, September 3rd, from 02:10 to 06:10 UT. * The 179th momentum dump is scheduled for Thursday, September 4th, at 19:30 UT. * The 22nd Solar Orbiter remote sensing window begins Sunday, September 7th.
