STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2025-07-22 (Week 30) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 29 (July 14-20) * On day 199 (Jul 18), during the DSS-55 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 02:27 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 87 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. See DR # M118128 for more information. * On day 201 (Jul 20), during the DSS-34 support, the uplink and downlink were lost between 23:55 UT and July 21st at 00:05 UT, due to an antenna drive problem. This anomaly resulted in the loss of ten minutes of real-time telemetry, commanding, 2-way tracking, and 14274 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the subsequent DSS-56 track and recovered all the affected data. See DR #C118537 for more information. * On day 196 (Jul 15), fine pointing was lost intermittently beginning at 19:03 UT through July 16th at 19:04 UT. These occurrences were due to the reaction wheels operating at low speeds with no gyro operations. These transients can occur with no gyro operations and are not indicative of any problem with the spacecraft G&C. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 7.9 Gbits during this week. Week 30 (July 21-27) * Ahead has eighteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 178th momentum dump is scheduled for Wednesday, July 23rd, with ignition at 19:05 UT. Week 31 (July 28-Aug 3) * Ahead has fifteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * There is a DSN network maintenance event scheduled from Thursday, July 31st, at 23:00 to Friday, August 1st, at 02:00 UT. Week 32 (Aug 4-10) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 33 (Aug 11-17) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 34 (Aug 18-24) * Ahead has fifteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Tracks for this week may be adjusted because DSS-36 is going to be down for the entire week, impacting several other missions. Week 35 (Aug 25-31) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 76th SECCHI stepped calibration roll is scheduled for Monday, August 25th, at 21:00 UT. * There is a DSN network maintenance event scheduled on Wednesday, August 27th, from 15:00-23:00 UT.
