STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2025-06-17 (Week 25) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 24 (June 9-15) * On day 162 (Jun 11), during the DSS-55 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 04:48 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 10 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. * On day 162 (Jun 11), during the DSS-26 support, uplink activities were delayed 30 minutes until 11:35 UT, due to a hardware problem. This anomaly resulted in the loss 30 minutes of real-time commanding, 2-way tracking, and 6149 frames SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. See DR #G125215 for more information. * On day 162 (Jun 11), the MOPs team successfully conducted the 18th battery discharge event at 1740z to redistribute the electrolytes within the nickel hydrogen battery cells. * On day 164 (Jun 13), APL successfully performed the power outage through day 166 (Jun 16) for the building 17 datacenter power upgrade. The MOC was not impacted. * On day 166 (Jun 15), during the DSS-53 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 03:14 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 43 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 8.0 Gbits during this week. Week 25 (June 16-22) * Ahead has sixteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * A DSN network maintenance event was held on Monday, June 16th. * The 177th momentum dump is scheduled on Wednesday, June 18th, at 13:00 UT. * There is a PIT test scheduled for Wednesday, June 19th, from 18:15 to 20:15 UT. There will be no SSR playback or instrument commanding during this test. Week 26 (June 23-29) * Ahead has seventeen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 27 (June 30 - July 6) * Ahead has seventeen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * APL will be closed on Friday, July 4th, for Independence Day. Week 28 (July 7-13) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 29 (July 14-20) * Ahead has fourteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 30 (July 21-27) * Ahead has eighteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal.
