STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2025-05-13 (Week 20) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 19 (May 5-11) * On day 125 (May 5), during the DSS-24 support, the beginning of track was delayed 11 minutes until 1101z, due to an azimuth brake problem. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 11 minutes of real-time telemetry, commanding, tracking, and SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the track and recovered all the affected data. See DR #G125134 for more information. * On day 127 (May 7), the 176th momentum dump was executed successfully at 1300z, which imparted an estimated delta V of 0.047 m/sec. This was the 95th momentum dump conducted without gyro use. After thruster operations completed, there was a 0.9 degree of roll angle error. Fine pointing stabilized 2.8 minutes after completion of the momentum dump. * On day 128 (May 8), during the DSS-55 support, the antenna was declared red, due to a hardware problem. The track was switched in real-time to DSS-65 at 0545z for the last 1.5 hours of the track. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 2.5 hours of real-time telemetry, commanding, tracking, and SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the subsequent DSS-35 track and recovered all the affected data, except for the loss of 8.2 hours of SECCHI data for day 127 at 1158z-2011z. See DR #M117895 for more information. * As of day 131 (May 11), all PLASTIC systems are behaving well, except there is a moderate background count rate, which the team is continuing to monitor. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 7.8 Gbits during this week. Week 20 (May 12-18) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * May 13, 10:45-14:45 UT, on station 25, the transmitter was red due to hardware problem, downlink only, no uplink. * The DSN network maintenance event originally scheduled for Wednesday, May 14, has been canceled. Week 21 (May 19-25) * Ahead has fourteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 22 (May 26 - June 1) * Ahead has fourteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * APL will be closed on Monday, May 26, for the Memorial Day holiday. * May 28 (Wednesday), an ESA Malargue track is scheduled at 07:15-11:15 UT. Week 23 (June 2-8) * Ahead has fifteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 75th SECCHI stepped calibration roll is scheduled for Tuesday, June 3rd, at 14:50 UT. Week 24 (June 9-15) * Ahead has fifteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 18th battery discharge cycle is scheduled for Wednesday, June 11, starting at 17:40 UT. * APL will be undergoing power maintenance starting Friday, June 13, at 19:00 UT, and continuing until Monday, June 16 at 12:00 UT. The MOC shouldn't be impacted. * Parker Solar Probe will be starting their perihelion pass on Sunday, June 15. Week 25 (June 16-22) * Ahead has sixteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * June 16, a DSN network maintenance event is scheduled at 10:30-14:30 UT. * June 18, the 177th momentum dump is scheduled at 13:00 UT.
