STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2025-04-08 (Week 15) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 14 (Mar 31 - Apr 6) * On day 090 (Mar 31), during the DSS-55 support, the antenna was declared red, due to a hardware issue. The track was switched to DSS-65 and the end-of-track was shortened to 06:15 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 16 minutes of real-time telemetry, commanding, tracking, and SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. See DR #M117814 for more information. * On day 091 (Apr 1), during the DSS-14 support, the transmitter was declared red, due to a hardware problem. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 1.9 hours of real-time commanding and 2-way tracking data. See DR #G125101 for more information. * On day 091 (Apr 1), STEREO switched from antenna DSS-35 to DSS-43 (downlink only) to provide uplink track time for the NHPC Spacecraft Hibernation exit. The DSS-43 transmitter was declared red, due to a hardware problem. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 2.6 hours of real-time commanding and 2-way tracking data. * On day 091 (Apr 1), the 175th momentum dump was executed successfully at 18:15 UT, which imparted an estimated delta V of 0.059 m/sec. This was the 94th momentum dump conducted without gyro use. After thruster operations completed, there was a 0.7 degree of roll angle error. Fine pointing stabilized 2.5 minutes after completion of the momentum dump. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 8.2 Gbits during this week. Week 15 (Apr 7-13) * Ahead has fifteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The Ahead spacecraft observed a transit of Mercury yesterday, April 7. * There is a DSN network maintenance event scheduled for later today, April 8 through Wednesday, April 9. * SECCHI is conducting a special observing campaign on Sunday, April 13, to observe the star Betelgeuse. Week 16 (Apr 14-20) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * SECCHI is conducting a special observing campaign on Sunday, April 20, to observe the star Betelgeuse. Week 17 (Apr 21-27) * Ahead has seventeen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 21st Solar Orbiter remote sensing window begins Friday, April 25th. Week 18 (Apr 28 - May 4) * Ahead has sixteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 19 (May 5-11) * Ahead has fifteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 176th momentum dump is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7th, at 13:00 UT. Week 20 (May 12-18) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal.
