STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2025-01-28 (Week 5) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * Reminder: Dan Wilson will be preparing an annual spacecraft health assessment. All of the instrument teams should have received an email requesting a short slide deck to be provided by January 31, if possible. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 4 (Jan 20-26) * On day 022 (Jan 22), during the DSS-74 (ESA New Norcia) support, the VC6 SLE telemetry bind between DSN and ESA failed at 22:59 UT. This anomaly resulted in the delay of the SSR data delivery to the MOC until after the track. The MOPs team performed an off-line SLE telemetry playback and recovered all of the affected data. * On day 023 (Jan 23), during the DSS-55 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 09:25 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 81 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. See DR #M117653 for more information. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 7.4 Gbits during this week. Week 5 (Jan 27 - Feb 2) * The SECCHI instrument had a watchdog reset this morning, January 28, at 13:50 UT. The instrument was recovered by 14:30 UT. * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 6 (Feb 3-9) * Ahead has fourteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * There is a DSN network maintenance event scheduled for Wednesday, February 5. Week 7 (Feb 10-16) * Ahead has fifteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 8 (Feb 17-23) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Solar Orbiter will have a Venus flyby on Tuesday, February 18. STEREO does not currently have any special observations planned for this event. * The 174th momentum dump is scheduled for Tuesday, February 18, at 18:45 UT. Week 9 (Feb 24 - Mar 2) * Ahead has fourteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 10 (Mar 3 - 9) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * There will be a STEREO instrument teams meeting March 3-4 at APL. Anyone interested in participating is welcome. Please contact Lan Jian and cc Terry Kucera and Angelos Vourlidas. * The 74th SECCHI stepped calibration roll is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5th, at 12:35 UT.
