STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2024-01-30 (Week 5) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * Slide decks for the annual STEREO Assessment Review will be posted to the SDS on Tuesday, Feb 6th. Instrument teams are encouraged to send contributions to Dan Wilson or Owen Dudley as soon as possible. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 4 (Jan 21-28) * On day 022 (Jan 22), during the DSS-35 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 1527z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of two frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. * On day 028 (Jan 28), during the DSS-65 support, the command modulation toggled offline from 03:55:05z to 03:55:19z, due to a hardware communication error. This anomaly caused the MOC Command Bind to abort, and the spacecraft uplink sub-carrier to drop lock from 03:56:12z to 03:56:24z. The command bind was reestablished at 0722z. See DR #M116705 for more information. * On day 022 (Jan 22), the MOPs team successfully conducted the 15th battery discharge event at 1525z to redistribute the electrolytes within the nickel hydrogen battery cells. * On day 023 (Jan 23), the 69th SECCHI stepped calibration was executed at 0545z for aphelion in the Ahead orbit. This was the 38th SECCHI stepped calibration roll conducted without gyro use. * On day 025 (Jan 25), the SECCHI instrument reset at 16:28:11z. The SECCHI team reconfigured the instrument to operational mode by 1646z. This was the 80th reset of the SECCHI instrument on the Ahead observatory. * As of day 028 (Jan 28), all PLASTIC systems are behaving well, except there is a moderate background count rate, which the team is continuing to monitor. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 6.6 Gbits during this week. Week 5 (Jan 29-Feb 4) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 6 (Feb 5-11) * Ahead has fourteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * A DSN Project Interface Test with station 24 is scheduled for Sunday, Feb 11, between 10:45-13:00 UT. Week 7 (Feb 12-18) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 8 (Feb 19-25) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 164th momentum dump is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb 20, with ignition at 15:00 UT. Week 9 (Feb 26-Mar 3) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 10 (Mar 4 - Mar 10) * Ahead has fourteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Daylight Savings Time begins Sunday, Mar 10.
