STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2024-01-02 (Week 1) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 51 (Dec 18-24) * As of day 358 (Dec 24), all PLASTIC systems are behaving well, except there is a moderate background count rate, which the team is continuing to monitor. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 6.6 Gbits during this week. Week 52 (Dec 25-31) * On day 360 (Dec 26), during the DSS-53 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 0527z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 76 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. * On day 360 (Dec 26), during the DSS-43 support, the transmitter was declared red, due to a hardware problem. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 2.6 hours of real-time commanding and 2-way tracking data. Also, the beginning of track was delayed 18 minutes until 1533z, due to a hardware configuration issue. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 18 minutes of real-time telemetry, tracking, and SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the subsequent DSS-25 track and recovered all the affected data, except for the loss of 57 minutes of SECCHI data for day 360-0550z thru 0647z. See DRs #C117656 and #C117657 for more information. * On day 359 (Dec 25), the star tracker reset at 04:19:18z. Fault protection immediately promoted the star tracker back to AAD mode at 04:19:42z. The diagnostic data indicated that the reset cause was due to a CPU Error, same as previous resets. The anomaly resulted in a momentary loss of fine pointing with a 0.28 degree of roll angle error. This was the eleventh star tracker reset on the Ahead observatory. * As of day 365 (Dec 31), all PLASTIC systems are behaving well, except there is a moderate background count rate, which the team is continuing to monitor. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 6.7 Gbits during this week. Week 1 (Jan 1-7) * Ahead has twelve tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * APL will be closed for New Year's Day on Monday, Jan 1. Week 2 (Jan 8-14) * Ahead has twelve tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 163rd momentum dump is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan 9, with ignition at 16:45 UT. Week 3 (Jan 15-21) * Ahead has eleven passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * APL will be closed for the Martin Luther King holiday on Monday, Jan 15. Week 4 (Jan 21-28) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The fifteen battery discharge event is scheduled for Monday, Jan 22, at 15:25 UT. * The 69th SECCHI stepped calibration roll is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan 23, starting at 05:45 UT. This is the aphelion roll. Week 5 (Jan 29-Feb 4) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 6 (Feb 5-11) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * A DSN Project Interface Test with station 24 is scheduled for Saturday, Feb 11, between 10:45-13:00 UT.
