STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2023-09-19 (Week 38) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 37 (Sep 11-17) * On day 257 (Sep 14), during the DSS-83 (ESA/CEB) support, the MOC lost telemetry briefly at 0317z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of one minute of SSR data and real-time telemetry. MOPS notified ESA the next morning and all of the affected data was recovered via an off-line playback. Post-track troubleshooting failed to identify a definitive cause for this issue. * On day 258 (Sep 15), during the DSS-43 support, both PLASTIC and IMPACT POCs were unable to remotely connect to the instrument command server Cho while preparing for real-time commanding. Further investigation found that SWAVES could not remotely connect either. The APL SOF team corrected the issue shortly after EOT and PLASTIC was able to successfully command the next day. The issue was the result of a non-Cho specific version of an SSH configuration file being inadvertently pushed out on Sep 12 while the SOF team was addressing another issue. * On day 259 (Sep 16), during the DSS-53 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 0458z due to rain at the station. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 58 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all of the affected data. See DR# M116288 for more information. * As of day 260 (Sep 17), all PLASTIC systems are behaving well, except there is a moderate background count rate, which the team is continuing to monitor. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 6.8 Gbits during this week. Week 38 (Sep 18-24) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 160th momentum dump on Ahead was successfully carried out this morning (Sep 19). During the maneuver, the station transmitter needed to be recycled--the resulting lost telemetry was recovered. * Network maintenance will be performed starting at 23:00 UT on Wednesday, Sep 20, and continuing on to 02:00 UT the next day. The MOPS will reconnect after the maintenance, and suggests that the instrument teams also test their connection as early as possible. * The second SECCHI high telemetry campaign starts on Saturday, Sep 23 (day 266), to coincide with the Parker Solar Probe perihelion pass. Both end on Oct 3. Week 39 (Sep 25- Oct 1) * Ahead has eighteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Week two of the SECCHI high telemetry campaign, coincides with the Parker Solar Probe perihelion pass. * Solar Orbiter Remote Sensing Window 10 runs Oct 1-10. Week 40 (Oct 2-8) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * SECCHI high telemetry campaign ends Tuesday, Oct 3. Week 41 (Oct 9-15) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Additional passes were added on Monday and Tuesday. An ESA Malague pass is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct 11. * Solar Orbiter Remote Sensing Window 11 runs from Oct 12-21. Week 42 (Oct 16-22) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. An ESA Malague pass is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct 18. * The 161st momentum dump is scheduled for Friday, Oct 20, with ignition at 21:00 UT. Week 43 (Oct 23-29) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Solar Orbiter Remote Sensing Window 12 runs from Oct 23 to Nov 1.
