STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2023-09-05 (Week 36) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 35 (Aug 28-Sep 3) * On day 241 (Aug 29), during the DSS-25 support, the transmitter was declared red due to a hardware problem. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 2.9 hours of real-time commanding and 2-way tracking data. See DR #G123943 for more information. * On day 244 (Sep 1), during the DSS-55 support, monitor data was not available in the MOC, due to a DSN network issue. See DR # N112769 for more information. * On day 245 (Sep 2), the 159th momentum dump was executed successfully at 0030z, which imparted an estimated delta V of 0.092 m/sec. This was the 78th momentum dump conducted without gyro use. After thruster operations completed, there was a 0.4 degree of roll angle error. Fine pointing stabilized 1.8 minutes after completion of the momentum dump. * As of day 246 (Sep 3), all PLASTIC systems are behaving well, except there is a moderate background count rate, which the team is continuing to monitor. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 6.1 Gbits during this week. Week 36 (Sep 4-10) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. An ESA New Norcia pass was added for Saturday afternoon, Sep 9. An additional ESA Cebreros pass was added for yesterday (Sep 4) in case the station 25 transmitter had not been repaired. Week 37 (Sep 11-17) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. An ESA New Norcia pass was added for Saturday, Sep 16. Week 38 (Sep 18-24) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 160th momentum dump on Ahead is scheduled for Tuesday, Sep 19, with ignition at 14:00 UT. * The second SECCHI high telemetry campaign starts on Saturday, Sep 23, to coincide with the Parker Solar Probe perihelion pass. Both end on Oct 3. Week 39 (Sep 25- Oct 1) * Ahead has eighteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Week two of the SECCHI high telemetry campaign, coincides with the Parker Solar Probe perihelion pass. Week 40 (Oct 2-8) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * SECCHI high telemetry campaign ends Tuesday, Oct 3. Week 41 (Oct 9-15) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. An ESA Malague pass is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct 11. * Solar Orbiter Remote Sensing Window 10 runs from Oct 1-10, Window 11 runs from Oct 12-21, and Window 12 runs from Oct 23-Nov 1.
