STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2022-12-20 (Week 51) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * There will be no weekly meeting on Tuesday, Dec 27, due to the holiday season. * The next STEREO Annual Assessment is planned for Thursday, Feb 16, 2023, from 8:30-12:00 EST. A meeting announcement will be sent out soon. The instrument teams are invited to present their instrument status. Because APL is retiring Webex, the meeting will be done via Conference Manager, which is browser-based. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 50 (Dec 12-18) * On day 347 (Dec 13), STEREO Ahead switched from antenna DSS-56 to DSS-53 to provide track time for the HMAP Spacecraft Emergency. During the DSS-53 support, the antenna was declared red, due to an Antenna Servo Drive issue. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 1.5 hours of real-time telemetry, command, tracking, and SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the subsequent DSS-55 track and recovered all the affected data. See DR # M115274 for more information. * On day 348 (Dec 14), the SECCHI team commanded an instrument reboot with a watchdog reset at 13:16:07z. The reset corrected a software error with the image counter. The SECCHI team reconfigured the instrument to operational mode by 1333z. This was the 73rd reset of the SECCHI instrument on the Ahead observatory. * On day 349 (Dec 15), during the DSS-63 support, the SECCHI SSR Partition 19 reached 100% full for 34 minutes from 1503z to 1537z. The SSR pointer repositioning on DOY 348 to recover data from the failed DSS-53 support caused this issue. * As of day 352 (Dec 18), all PLASTIC systems are behaving well, except there is a moderate background count rate, which the team is continuing to monitor. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 6.2 Gbits during this week. Week 51 (Dec 19-25) * Ahead has nine tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 152 momentum dump was carried out yesterday, Dec 19, with ignition at 18:30 UT. * The Project Interface Test originally scheduled with station 25 on Friday, Dec 23 has been moved to Saturday, Dec 24, and will be carried out on station 35. There will be no instrument commanding or SSR playback during this pass. * Sunday, Dec 25, is Christmas. The APL holiday will be on Monday, Dec 26. Week 52 (Dec 27-Jan 1) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * APL will observe the Christmas holiday on Monday, Dec 26. * There will be no telecon on Tuesday, Dec 27. Week 1 (Jan 2-8) * Ahead has nine tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * APL will observe the New Year holiday on Monday, Jan 2. * Solar Orbiter will be observing a transit of Mercury on Tuesday, Jan 3. Week 2 (Jan 9-15) * Ahead has nine tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 3 (Jan 16-22) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 4 (Jan 23-29) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * A Project Interface Test will be carried with station 25 on Tuesday, Jan 24. There will be no instrument commanding or SSR playback during this track.
