STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2022-11-22 (Week 47) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * The next STEREO Annual Assessment is planned for Thursday, Feb 16, 2023, from 8:30-12:00 EST. A meeting announcement will be sent out soon. The instrument teams are invited to present their instrument status. Because APL is retiring Webex, the meeting will be done via Conference Manager, which is browser-based. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 46 (Nov 14-20) * On day 319 (Nov 15), during the DSS-55 support for Ahead, the beginning of track was delayed three hours until 1757z, due to an elevation drive amplifier failure. This anomaly resulted in the loss of three hours of real-time telemetry, commanding, tracking, and SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. See DR #M115119 for more information. * On day 322 (Nov 18), the 64th SECCHI stepped calibration on Ahead was executed at 0910z for midpoint in the Ahead orbit. This was the 33rd SECCHI stepped calibration roll conducted without gyro use. * As of day 324 (Nov 20), all PLASTIC systems on Ahead are behaving well, except there is a moderate background count rate, which the team is continuing to monitor. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 6.2 Gbits during this week. Week 47 (Nov 21-27) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Due to changes to accommodate the Artemis 1 launch, an ESA Cebreros pass has been added on Saturday, Nov 26. * Yesterday's (Nov 21) pass with station 54 was downlink only due to a transmitter problem. The transmitter has now been fixed. * Thursday, Nov 24, is Thanksgiving. APL will be closed both Thursday and Friday, Nov 24-25. Week 48 (Nov 28-Dec 4) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 49 (Dec 5-11) * Ahead has eleven tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. The track count has gone down by one to accommodate Artemis and cubesat needs * The fourteenth Parker Solar Probe perihelion pass runs from Dec 7-16, days 341-350. Week 50 (Dec 12-18) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 51 (Dec 19-25) * Ahead has nine tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 152 momentum dump is scheduled for Monday, Dec 19, with ignition at 18:30 UT. * A Project Interface Test is scheduled with station 25 on Friday, Dec 23, from 21:30-23:30 UT. There will be no instrument commanding or SSR playback during this pass. * Sunday, Dec 25, is Christmas. The APL holiday will be on Monday, Dec 26. Week 52 (Dec 27-Jan 1) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * APL will observe the Christmas holiday on Monday, Dec 26. Week 1 (Jan 2-8) * Ahead has nine tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Solar Orbiter will be observing a transit of Mercury on Tuesday, Jan 3.
