STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2022-11-01 (Week 44) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * NASA has discontinued use of the MeetMe telephone conference system. From this point on, the STEREO weekly meetings will be done via Microsoft Teams. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 43 (Oct 24-30) * On day 299 (Oct 26), the MOPs team successfully conducted the 5th IMU-2 EEPROM Refresh on Ahead at 1810z. During the activity, the IMU boot-up and laser intensity monitor (LIM) telemetry were nominal. * As of day 303 (Oct 30), all PLASTIC systems on Ahead are behaving well, except there is a moderate background count rate, which the team is continuing to monitor. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 6.6 Gbits during this week. Week 44 (Oct 31-Nov 6) * Ahead has nine tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The PLASTIC team will be commanding their instrument on Ahead tomorrow (Nov 2) to raise their MCP voltage. * Sunday, Nov 6, is the end of the Solar Orbiter perihelion pass. * Daylight Savings Time in the US ends on Sunday, Nov 6. Week 45 (Nov 7-13) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 151st momentum dump is scheduled for Monday, Nov 7, at 19:00 UT. * Friday, Nov 11, is Veterans Day, which is an APL holiday. Week 46 (Nov 14-20) * Ahead has eight tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The Artemis 1 launch is now planned for Monday, Nov 14, which has affected the STEREO DSN schedule for weeks 46-47. The effect on the week 46 schedule has been to shift the times of passes, but the coverage is still good. * The 64th SECCHI stepped calibration roll is now scheduled for Friday, Nov 18, starting at 09:10 UT. The time of the event was shifted about two hours earlier because of track changes. This will be the midpoint roll. Week 47 (Nov 21-27) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Due to changes to accommodate the Artemis 1 launch, an ESA Cebreros has been added on Saturday, Nov 26. * Thursday, Nov 24, is Thanksgiving. APL will be closed both Thursday and Friday, Nov 24-25. Week 48 (Nov 28-Dec 4) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 49 (Dec 5-11) * Ahead has twelve tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The fourteenth Parker Solar Probe perihelion pass runs from Dec 7-16. Other * The SSC discussed with the MOC the possibility of writing an ICD for the NOAA antenna station at Wallops to collect STEREO beacon telemetry.
