STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2022-10-04 (Week 40) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 39 (Sep 26-Oct 2) * On day 271 (Sept 28), during the DSS-25 support for Ahead, the MOC lost telemetry briefly at 0157z, due to a Data Capture and Delivery Subsystem (DCD) failover. This anomaly resulted in the loss of one minute of SSR data and real-time telemetry. The MOPs team notified DSN the next morning and all the affected data was recovered and transferred to the MOC. See DR #N112282 for more information. * On day 275 (Oct 2), during the DSS-34 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently between 0344z and 0436z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 17 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers and recovered all the affected data. * On day 270 (Sept 27), the 150th momentum dump on Ahead was executed successfully at 1600z, which imparted an estimated delta V of 0.045 m/sec. This was the 69th momentum dump conducted without gyro use. After thruster operations completed, there was a 1.2 degree of roll angle error. Fine pointing stabilized 3.3 minutes after completion of the momentum dump. * As of day 275 (Oct 2), all PLASTIC systems on Ahead are behaving well, except there is a moderate background count rate, which the team is continuing to monitor. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 6.7 Gbits during this week. Week 40 (Oct 3-9) * Ahead has twelve tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * IONet maintenance is being carried out today (Oct 4), between 17-19 UT. This is not expected to affect STEREO operations. * APL network maintenance is expected on Wednesday, Oct 5, between 19-23 UT. Week 41 (Oct 10-16) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Two tracks have been identified as suitable for PLASTIC to command their MCP, both with station 55, on Wednesday, Oct 12, and Friday, Oct 14. There are no Artemis concerns at this point. * A commercial power outage at APL is expected on Saturday, Oct 15, between 10-22 UT. The MOC will continue to operate on generator power. Week 42 (Oct 17-23) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 43 (Oct 24-30) * Ahead has eleven tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * A track on Monday, Oct 24, was changed due to DSN maintenance. Hence, the IMU2 EEPROM refresh on Ahead has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Oct 26, starting around 18:15 UT. The IMU will be turned on, and a short sample of data will be collected, but the spacecraft will not be using the IMU for attitude determination. The whole procedure is expected to take about 30 minutes. * Tuesday, Oct 25 (or Oct 26 UTC), is the 16th launch anniversary of STEREO. Week 44 (Oct 31-Nov 6) * Ahead has nine tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Daylight Savings Time in the US ends on Sunday, Nov 6. Week 45 (Nov 7-13) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 151st momentum dump is scheduled for Monday, Nov 7, at 19:00 UT. * Friday, Nov 11, is Veterans Day, which is an APL holiday. Week 46 (Nov 14-20) * Ahead has eight tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 64th SECCHI stepped calibration roll is scheduled for Friday, Nov 18, starting at 11:18 UT.
