INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS
--------------------------------

* Ahead is operating nominally.  PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a
  moderately higher than normal background rate.

* Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind
  observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the
  last support on October 17, 2018.


DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS

Week 23 (Jun 6-12)

* On day 159 (Jun 8), the 147th momentum dump on Ahead was executed
  successfully at 2045z, which imparted an estimated delta V of 0.055 m/sec.
  This was the 66th momentum dump conducted without gyro use.  After thruster
  operations completed, there was a 0.29 degree of roll angle error.  Fine
  pointing stabilized 3.2 minutes after completion of the momentum dump.

* As of day 163 (Jun 12), all PLASTIC systems on Ahead are behaving well,
  except there is a moderate background count rate, which the team is
  continuing to monitor.

* The average daily science data return for Ahead was 6.6 Gbits during this
  week.

Week 24 (Jun 13-19)

* Ahead has eleven tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall
  coverage is nominal.

Week 25 (Jun 20-26)

* Ahead has eleven tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall
  coverage is nominal.

Week 26 (Jun 27-Jul 3)

* Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage
  is nominal.

Week 27 (Jul 4-10)

* Ahead has eleven tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall
  coverage is nominal.

* Monday, Jul 4, is Indepence Day, which is an APL holiday.

Week 28 (Jul 11-17)

* Ahead has nine tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage
  is nominal.

Week 29 (Jul 18-24)

* Ahead has nine tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage
  is nominal.

* The 148th momentum dump on Ahead is scheduled for Tuesday, Jul 19, with
  ignition at 16:15 UT.
