STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2022-05-31 (Week 22) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 21 (May 23-29) * On day 145 (May 25), during the DSS-35 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 1008z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of five frames of SSR data. * On day 146 (May 26), during the DSS-25 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently between 0223z and 0231z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 140 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the subsequent DSS-55 track and recovered all the affected data. See DR #G122781 for more information. * As of day 149 (May 29), all PLASTIC systems on Ahead are behaving well, except there is a moderate background count rate, which the team is continuing to monitor. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 6.6 Gbits during this week. Week 22 (May 30-Jun 5) * Ahead has eleven tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Monday, May 30, is Memorial Day, which is an APL holiday. Week 23 (Jun 6-12) * Ahead has twelve tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. The DSN schedule was modified to accommodate the CAPSTONE mission. * The 147th momentum dump on ahead is scheduled for Wednesday, Jun 8, with ignition at 20:45 UT. Changes were previously made to the track schedule for the CAPSTONE mission, but the track for the momentum dump has since been restored to its full duration. Week 24 (Jun 13-19) * Ahead has eleven tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 25 (Jun 20-26) * Ahead has eleven tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 26 (Jun 27-Jul 3) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 27 (Jul 4-10) * Ahead has eleven tracks during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. * Monday, Jul 4, is Indepence Day, which is an APL holiday.
