STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2022-01-04 (Week 01) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a high background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 52 (Dec 27-Jan 2) * On day 364 (Dec 30), during the DSS-84 (ESA MLG) support for Ahead, the VC6 telemetry (SSR playback data) was not received in the MOC, due to a SLE server configuration issue. Therefore, the SSR data from 364-0537z through 365-0235z is delayed. In addition, DSN had problems post-track with the SLE offline telemetry playback from ESA. As of day 003 (Jan 3), JPL engineers were working the issue to establish SLE offline telemetry playback with ESA. After the SLE server issues are resolved, the MOC will perform an SLE offline telemetry playback to recover all of the missing data. * On day 365 (Dec 31), during the DSS-34 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently between 0945z and 1027z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 18 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the track and recovered all the affected data. * As of day 002 (Jan 2), all PLASTIC systems on Ahead are behaving well, except there is a high background count rate, which the team is continuing to monitor. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 6.7 Gbits during this week. Week 01 (Jan 3-9) * Ahead has eleven passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. There are six passes at 720 kbps, and five at 480 kbps. An ESA New Norcia pass is scheduled for Thursday, Jan 6. * A momentum dump will be performed on Ahead on Tuesday, Jan 4, with ignition at 19:45 UT. Week 02 (Jan 10-16) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. There are five passes at 720 kbps, and five at 480 kbps. Week 03 (Jan 17-23) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. There are eight passes at 720 kbps, and four at 480 kbps. ESA station passes are scheduled for Monday, Jan 17 (Cebreros), Wednesday, Jan 19 (Malargue), and Friday, Jan 21 (New Norcia). * APL will be closed on Monday, Jan 17, for the Martin Luther King Day holiday. Week 04 (Jan 24-30) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. There are eight passes at 720 kbps, and five at 480 kbps. * Maintenance will be performed on the APL DMZ to upgrade switches on Friday, Jan 18, between 21:00 UT to 05:00 UT the next day. The start of the maintenance period occurs during a pass, so connection to the realtime telemetry may be interrupted. Week 05 (Jan 31-Feb 6) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. There are six passes at 720 kbps, and six at 480 kbps. Week 06 (Feb 7-13) * Ahead has eleven tracks during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. There are nine tracks at 720 kbps, and two at 480 kbps. * The 144th momentum dump is scheduled for Thursday, Feb 10, with ignition at 20:30 UT. Other * DSN reports that there will be schedule changes for weeks 2 and 3 due to needs for the JWST mission. JWST is calling for 24/7 support for the next eleven days. Additional JWST support has been called between Jan 9-21.
