STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2020-05-26 (Week 22) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is back to operational mode, but with a higher background rate. More time is needed to understand the new calibraton. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 21 (May 18-24) * On day 142 (May 21), during the DSS-34 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 0642z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of three frames of SSR data. * On day 145 (May 24), the MOC SDS system (cho) RAID drive experienced a glitch and rebooted at 0021z. The SOF maintenance team was able to get the RAID disk back online by 0127z. The NFS disk mounts from the other assessment and planning workstations remained unstable until day 147 (Tuesday) at 1240z, when the maintenance team reshared the disk drive. The disk problems resulted in a delayed delivery for MOC data products for days 145 and 146. * On day 139 (May 18), the 128th momentum dump on Ahead was executed successfully at 1800z, which imparted an estimated delta V of 0.069 m/sec. This was the 47th momentum dump conducted without gyro use. After thruster operations completed, there was a 1.10 degree of roll angle error. Fine pointing stabilized 4.3 minutes after completion of the momentum dump. * As of day 145 (May 24), all PLASTIC systems are behaving well, except there is a high background count rate, which the team is continuing to monitor. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 7.8 Gbits during this week. Week 22 (May 25-31) * Ahead has eleven passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. A pass with station 55 was deleted for maintenance. It was replaced with a pass with the ESA Cebreros station on Wednesday, May 27. The data rate for the ESA stations has been increased to 360 kbps. There are eight passes at 720 kbps, and three at 360 kbps. * Monday, May 25, is Memorial Day, which is a holiday at APL. Week 23 (Jun 1-7) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. There are seven passes at 720 kbps, one at 480 kbps, and five at 360 kbps. The schedule was reorganized because of station 63 maintenance activities. * The fifth Parker Solar Probe perihelion pass period is scheduled for days 154-164 (Jun 2-13). SECCHI will be supporting this pass, with special EUVI and COR2 observations on Jun 4,5, another period of special COR2 observations Jun 8-11, and with the regular synoptic program. Week 24 (Jun 8-14) * Ahead has eleven passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. There are eight passes at 720 kbps, one at 480 kbps, and two at 360 kbps. * The fifth Parker Solar Probe perihelion pass period is scheduled for days 154-164 (Jun 2-13). SECCHI will be supporting this pass, with special EUVI and COR2 observations on Jun 4,5, another period of special COR2 observations Jun 8-11, and with the regular synoptic program. Week 25 (Jun 15-21) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. There are eight passes at 720 kbps, three at 480 kbps, and one at 360 kbps.
