STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2019-09-10 (Week 37) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * IMPACT announces that the STEREO Data Server at UCLA will be down for a month. Alternate sources for these data are being identified. * The SSC reports that ftp access via stereoftp has been discontinued, as per NASA directive. An ftps service on stereoftp will be active shortly. Otherwise, instrument teams that get their data via ftp from the server will have to change their scripts to get the data from https://stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov. * The sohoftp server that distributes SolarSoft is no longer available from outside NASA. Information on how to install and update SolarSoft under the new system is available at https://stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov/solarsoft_wget.shtml INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 36 (Sep 2-8) * On day 246 (Sept 3), the SECCHI COR2 Deep Exposure Campaign for the 3rd Parker Solar Probe perihelion encounter was completed. This three-day campaign began on day 244 (Sept 1). * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 6.1 Gbits during this week. Week 37 (Sep 9-15) * On day 253 (Sep 10), during the DSS-34 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly 09:27UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of four frames of SSR data. * SECCHI plans to make special HI-1 observations in conjunction with PSP/WISPR, Sep 11-13. * Ahead has nine passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. There are six passes at 720 kbps, two at 480 kbps, and one at 240 kbps. Week 38 (Sep 16-22) * The 122nd momentum dump on Ahead is scheduled for Tuesday, Sep 17, with ignition at 16:00 UT. This will be the 41st momentum dump without using the gyros. * Ahead has eleven passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. There are ten passes at 720 kbps, and one at 480 kbps. Week 39 (Sep 23-29) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. There are nine passes at 720 kbps, and one at 480 kbps. Week 40 (Sep 30-Oct 6) * Ahead has eleven passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. There are ten passes at 720 kbps, and one at 480 kbps. Week 41 (Oct 7-Oct 13) * Ahead has nine passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. There are six passes at 720 kbps, two at 480 kbps, and one at 360 kbps. Week 42 (Oct 14-Oct 20) * Ahead has eight passes during the week, short seven total hours of coverage on day 289 (Oct 16) and 290 (Oct 17). ESA has been contacted ESA for support. There are six passes at 720 kbps, one at 360 kbps, and one at 160 kpbs.
