STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2014-08-05 (Week 32) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 31 (Jul 28-Aug 3) * On day 210 (Jul 29), during the DSS-25 support for Ahead, command bind was aborted at 1836z and again at 1946z due to a transmitter glitch. This anomaly had no impact on operations and command bind was reestablished at 1856z and again at 1951z. See DR #G115287 for more information. * On day 215 (Aug 3), during the DSS-26 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently beginning at 1520z through 1607z due to rain and heavy cloud cover. The SSR pointers were repositioned, but not all the data were recovered. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 1316 frames of SSR data. See DR #G115297 for more information. * On day 210 (Jul 29), C&DH FSW version 3.2.4 was loaded to EEPROM (copy 1) on Ahead in preparation for solar conjunction. * On day 213 (Aug 1), the MOPS permanent macro release 1.1.23 and the Handling release 1.1.8 were loaded to RAM on Ahead in preparation for the solar conjunction telemetry rate testing on DOY 218 (Aug 6). * On day 209 (Jul 28), during the DSS-14 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently beginning at 1648z through 1835z due to antenna pointing errors. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 711 frames of SSR data. See DR #G115283 for more information. * On day 210 (Jul 29), during the DSS-63 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 0717z and again at 0720z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 21 frames of SSR data. * On day 211 (Jul 30), a project interface test with Behind was conducted successfully with DSS-35, the new 34m BWG antenna at the DSN Canberra complex, at 0100z. The MOC successfully bound with the station for commanding and received spacecraft telemetry. SECCHI used this command opportunity to reopen the COR1/COR2 covers, which had been left closed after the momentum dump on DOY 209 (Jul 28). * On day 214 (Aug 2), during the DSS-55 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 1054z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 218 frames of SSR data. See DR #M108213 for more information. * On day 214 (Aug 2), during the DSS-25 support for Behind, command bind was aborted at 1508z due to a transmitter glitch. This anomaly had no impact on operations and command bind was reestablished at 1556z. See DR #G115293 for more information. * On day 215 (Aug 3), during the DSS-55 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 0740z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of eleven frames of SSR data. * On day 215 (Aug 3), during the DSS-14 support for Behind, telemetry was delayed by 23 minutes until 1618z due to rain and heavy cloud cover. The SSR pointers were repositioned prior to the outage and all data were recovered. See DR #G115298 for more information. * On day 209 (Jul 28), the 65th momentum dump on Behind was executed successfully at 1945Z, which imparted a delta V of 0.061 m/sec. The SECCHI COR1/COR2 covers remained closed until DOY 211-0252z (Jul 30). * On day 215 (Aug 3), an HGA operational side lobe test was executed successfully at 1700z through 1830z during the DSS-14 support to validate the performance of data rates for HGA off-pointing and on the first and second HGA side lobes in preparations for use during the solar conjunction mission phase. This was the same test previously carried out on Ahead. For 30 minutes each, the HGA was off-pointed one degree using a 360 kbps downlink and 2000 bps uplink, then slewed to the first HGA side lobe using a 10 kbps downlink and 500 bps uplink rates, and finally slewing the HGA to the second side lobe using a 3 kbps downlink and 125 bps uplink rates on the BEHIND observatory. RF performance is being analyzed. * The average daily SSR playback volume during the week was 3.5 gigabits for Ahead, and 4.1 gigabits for Behind. Week 32 (Aug 4-10) * The 70th momentum dump on Ahead was successfully carried out yesterday (Aug 4), with ignition at 18:00 UT. * A long term ephemeris was uploaded to the Ahead spacecraft last night for a week long test. * A test of the side lobe telemetry rates will be carried out tomorrow (Aug 6), starting at 16:30 UT. A detailed timeline has been distributed to the instrument teams. The HGA antenna will be at the nominal pointing--only the telemetry rates will be tested. The test will include the 1 degree offpoint, first side lobe, and second side lobe telemetry rates. Instruments can resume their normal telemetry rates at the end of track. SECCHI will be commanding during the previous track. SECCHI will also need to send up a command to adjust their beacon telemetry rate for the second side lobe. This command will be timed togo up at 17:58 UT ground time to reach the spacecraft at the correct time, just after the telemetry rate switch. * C&DH flight software version 3.2.4 was successfully written to EEPROM copy 2 on Behind yesterday (Aug 4) . * Ahead has 10 passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. There are seven passes at 720 kbps, one pass at 240 kbps, and two passes at 96 kbps, on Aug 6 and 9. * Behind has 10 passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. There are five passes at 720 kbps, three passes at 240 kbps, one pass at 160 kbps, and one pass at 120 kbps. Week 33 (Aug 11-17) * The 31st SECCHI stepped calibration roll on Ahead will be on Tuesday, Aug 12, starting at 17:50 UT. * A long duration ephemeris will be uploaded to EEPROM on Ahead on Tuesday, Aug 12, to cover the solar conjunction period. * The 4th battery discharge/charge cycle on Ahead will be Thursday, Aug 14, starting at 15:00 UT. This will not affect science operations. * Ahead has 8 passes during the week, all at 480 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Behind has 13 passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. There are three passes at 720 kbps, one pass at 240 kbps, two passes at 160 kbps, and seven passes at 120 kbps. Week 34 (Aug 18-24) * The Ahead reconfiguration for side-lobe operations will be loaded on Tuesday Aug 19. Final mission operation macros and the HDA angle bias will be loaded. The SSR will be reconfigured. The instrument teams will need a detailed timeline for that date to properly prepare for the SSR reconfiguration. * Ahead operations on the first side lobe will start Aug 20 on station 14. * In the absence of moving to side lobe operations, the HGA soft stop angle on Ahead would be reached on Aug 23. * Ahead has 8 passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. There are two passes at 360 kbps (Monday and Tuesday). On Aug 20th first side lobe coverage will begin and be at 10 kbps. This will continue until around Nov 10 when operations on the second side lobe will bring this down to 3 kbps. * Behind has 14 passes during the week, with nominal coverage overall. Three tracks are at 720 kbps, one at 160 kbps and nine at 120 kbps. Week 35 (Aug 25-31) * Ahead will be operating with the high gain antenna on its first side lobe. * A test of using a 34 meter station at 633 bps with Ahead will be carried out on Monday, Aug 25. Spacecraft housekeeping will come down during this pass, not space weather beacon data. * The 66th momentum dump for Behind is Monday, Aug 25 at 18:30 UT. * Ahead has 8 passes, seven at 10 kbps, and one at 633 bps. * Behind has 11 passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal.
