STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2014-02-25 (Week 09) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * IMPACT-Behind stopped receiving data from the MAG instrument at about 3 UT on Thursday, Feb 20. Recovery operations are taking place. See below for details. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Except for the MAG-B anomaly noted above, all subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 08 (Feb 17-23) * On day 049 (Feb 18), during the DSS-55 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 1417z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of one frame of SSR data. * On day 049 (Feb 18), during the DSS-34 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently beginning at 050-0229z through 0245z due to heavy rain at Canberra. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 21 minutes of SSR data. See DR# C110016 more information. * On day 050 (Feb 19), during the DSS-14 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 1857z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of one frame of SSR data. * On day 053 (Feb 22), during the DSS-55 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 0835z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of one frame of SSR data. * On day 053 (Feb 22), during the DSS-26 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 1851z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of one frame of SSR data. * On day 050 (Feb 19), the 65th momentum dump on Ahead was executed successfully at 1830Z, which imparted a delta V of 0.0963 m/sec. * On day 049 (Feb 18), during the DSS-24 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 2100z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of one frame of SSR data. * On day 051 (Feb 20), during the DSS-24 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 052-0025z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of one frame of SSR data. * On day 051 (Feb 20), during the DSS-55 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently beginning at 1322z through 1429z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of five frames of SSR data. * On day 053 (Feb 22), during the DSS-24 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 2107z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of one frame of SSR data. * On day 051 (Feb 20), the IMPACT IDPU on Behind stopped receiving data from the MAG instrument at about 0300z. As commands to reinitialize the MAG interface were unsuccessful, the IDPU/MAG and SWEA power services will be powered cycled to clear the anomaly and to minimize science data interruption to the SEP/SEPT and PLASTIC instruments. This is expected to take place starting at 21:30 UT today (Feb 25). * The full Reduced Gyro Operations (RGO) fault protection capability for the Behind observatory has been developed. The fault protection rules and load scripts have been successfully tested on the hardware simulator (flatsat) and test data was analyzed by the engineering team. The STEREO CCB, along with the GSFC mission director, reviewed the results and concurred with loading the new fault protection and MOps macro releases to the BEHIND spacecraft. The RGO extends the life of the remaining IMU by keeping it off most of the time and turning it on only when high rate data is required, such as the periodic momentum dumps, instrument roll calibrations, and spacecraft safety. * The average daily SSR playback volume during the week was 4.4 gigabits for Ahead, and 3.7 gigabits for Behind. Week 09 (Feb 24-Mar 2) * An updated MOPS macro was loaded onto RAM on Ahead. This has a slight modification for reduced gyro operations. The same modification will be uploaded to Behind on Thursday, Feb 27. * The IMPACT IDPU and MAG will be power cycled to clear the MAG anomaly. * The 60th momentum dump for Behind is scheduled for Thursday, Feb 27, with ignition at 00:30 UT (so late Wednesday evening EST). * Ahead has 11 tracks during the week, and overall coverage is nominal.
