STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2013-02-12 (Week 7) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * On day 041 (Feb 10), the STEREO ESA tracks were put on hold pending an agreement by NASA and ESA. The suspension started with the ESA tracks on Sunday, February 10, 2013, through Sunday February 17th (Week 6-7). The MOC has been informed that NASA has come to an agreement with ESA to trade tracks with the Cluster-2 mission. The total amount of track time is similar to that from last year. ESA tracks will resume in week 8. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 06 (Feb 4-10) * On day 036 (Feb 5), during the DSS-63 track for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 0739z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 55 frames of SSR data. See DR #N108624 for more information. * On day 037 (Feb 6), during the DSS-15 track for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 1530z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of one frame of SSR data. See DR #N108626 for more information. * On day 035 (Feb 4), IMPACT conducted real-time commanding on Ahead at 1722z to reduce the LET telemetry packet rate from 16 to 7 packets per minute during sun quiet periods. * On day 036 (Feb 5), the first connectivity test was conducted for Ahead and Behind with ESA DSS-84 (Malargue, Argentina). The MOC could not perform the SLE Command BINDs with equipment chains 2 and 3 because of a missing route of the DSN IP addresses for DSS-84 on the Goddard network. DSN Data Control successfully performed SLE telemetry BINDs for Ahead with Chains 1, 2, and 3, and for Behind with Chains 2 and 3. There was insufficient time to test Chain 1 with Behind. The missing route issue was resolved this morning (Feb 12). * On day 040 (Feb 9), the SSR science partitions on Ahead filled as follows: SWAVES (Part 13) reached 100% full at 1421z for 2.6 hours. SWAVES (Part 13) reached 100% full at 1931z for 0.8 hours. The primary cause was the accumulated shortage of track time throughout the week. * On day 039 (Feb 8), during the DSS-32 (ESA) support for Behind, the command bind was not established for the entire track because the MOC ground system was configured to command on equipment chain 1, but the station was configured for chain 2. No critical commanding was planned for this track. * On day 038 (Feb 7), IMPACT conducted real-time commanding on Behind at 1644z to reduce the LET telemetry packet rate from 16 to 7 packets per minute during sun quiet periods. * On day 038 (Feb 7), the spacecraft space weather turbo 1/6 encoding test with Behind using the APL 18 meter antenna was conducted successfully at 1830z through 2030z. The packet and frame headers were examined by the SSC and found to be correct except for two short periods. These are most likely due to changes in the antenna parameters that were occuring during the test. The approximate times of the short periods of garbled telemetry were passed on to the antenna team. Further testing would require that the telemetry be converted into the STEREO PTP or STP format. * The average daily SSR playback volume during the week was 4.2 gigabits for Ahead, and 3.7 gigabits for Behind. Week 07 (Feb 11-17) * Additional bind testing will be performed with the new ESA station at Malargue, Argentina (D84), on Tuesday, Feb 12, between 18-20 UT. * DSN DCD maintenance will be performed on Saturday, Feb 16 between 9:55 and 10:15 UT. This is outside any tracks, and will not have any effect on operations. * The originally planned ESA passes for Ahead and Behind during the week have been cancelled. * Ahead has 10 passes during the week, and overall coverage is short by 15.5 hours, mainly between Feb 11-14. 70 meter passes are scheduled for Tuesday, Feb 12 (D14), Friday, Feb 15 (D14 at 720 kbps), Saturday, Feb 16 (D63) and Sunday, Feb 17 (D14 at 720 kbps).
