STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2011-09-27 (Week 39) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 38 (Sep 19-25) * On day 264 (Sep 21), during the DSS 15 support for Ahead, and the DSS 63 support for Behind, real-time telemetry was lost beginning at 1508z due to a DCD anomaly. After the DCD was rebooted, real-time telemetry was received again at 1659z for Ahead, and 1545z for Behind. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 111 minutes of real-time telemetry for Ahead, and 37 minutes for Behind. All SSR data were recovered for both spacecraft. See DR# N107622 and DR# N107623 for more information. * On day 266 (Sep 23), during the DSS 63 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly beginning at 1048z and again at 1223z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of five frames of SSR data for all instruments. See DR# N107632 for more information. * On day 262 (Sep 19), IMPACT IDPU/MAG high power consumption autonomy rule 64 fired on Ahead at 15:43:12z. This powered off all of IMPACT and PLASTIC instruments. After investigating all recovered data, the instrument suites were gradually powered on. PLASTIC was returned to its operational configuration on 263-1400z (Sep 20). IMPACT was returned back to the nominal operational state, including high voltage ramp-ups, by 265-2010z (Sep 22). A similar anomaly happened earlier in the year on Behind, and was attributed to an SEU. This event could also be due to an SEU, but the present event was not captured in the telemetry. * On day 263 (Sep 20), during the DSS 63 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly beginning at 1308z through 1453z. This resulted in the loss of two frames of SSR data. See DR# N107628 for more information. * On day 268 (Sep 25), for the DSS 25 support for Behind, the antenna was declared red prior to the start of the track due to a loss of connectivity to the antenna. After connectivity was restored, telemetry was received at 2210z. To prevent data loss, the SSR Read pointers were repositioned. At 2338z, command bind and monitor data were lost due to equipment problems at the station. After the monitor data server was restarted at 269-0014z, command bind and monitor data were restored. Later in the support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 0018z. These anomalies resulted in the loss of 70 minutes of real-telemetry and tracking data, 36 minutes of commanding and monitor data, and one frame of SSR data. See DR# G111988 and G111991 for more information. * There was some discussion about the lack of southern support for the Ahead spacecraft. An upcoming Canberra contact will relieve this condition in the next couple of days. The 17 day gap in southern coverage has not caused any problems. * The average daily SSR playback volume was 3.9 gigabits for Ahead, and 5.5 gigabits for Behind. Contentions with other missions has limited the amount of data recovery. Coverage gaps for the Behind mission did not cause any data loss during the week. Week 39 (Sep 26 - Oct 2) * Some data loss is reported for the in situ instruments on Ahead today (Sep 27) due to short coverage. * Ahead has 70 meter passes on Tuesday, Sep 27 (D14 and D43), Wednesday, Sep 28 (D14), and Thursday, Sep 29 (D14). There are 11 passes during the week. Coverage is about 1.6 hours short on Monday, Sep 26. * Behind has 70 meter passes on Tuesday, Sep 27 (D14), Wednesday, Sep 28 (D14), Friday, Sep 30 (D63), and Saturday, Oct 1 (D63). There are 9 passes during the week, and coverage is short about 1.75 hours on Wednesday, Sep 28, and 4.4 hours on Thursday, Sep 29. An additional track on Tuesday, Sep 27, mitigated the previous short coverage for that day. Tracks on Tuesday and Thursday will be carried out at 240 kbps. Week 40 (Oct 3-9) * The 41st momentum dump on Ahead is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct 4, with ignition starting at 13:30 UT. * The 35th momentum dump on Behind is also scheduled for Tuesday, Oct 4, with ignition starting at 15:00 UT. * An additional Canberra pass was added for Ahead on Tuesday, Oct 4, mitigating some of the previous short coverage. * Ahead has 70 meter passes on Monday, Oct 3 (D63), Tuesday, Oct 4 (D63), Thursday, Oct 6 (D14 and D43), Saturday, Oct 8 (D14), and Sunday, Oct 9 (D63). There are 11 passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 41 (Oct 10-16) * Ahead has 70 meter passes on Monday, Oct 10 (D63), Thursday, Oct 13 (D14), Friday, Oct 14 (D63), Saturday, Oct 15 (D43), and Sunday, Oct 16 (D63 and D43). There are 13 passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. Two passes on Saturday will be carried out at 240 kbps because they are above 25 degrees elevation for the entire pass.
