STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2011-07-12 (Week 28) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 27 (Jul 4-10) * On day 187 (Jul 6), during the DSS 14 support for Ahead, which was the first planned operational use of CCSDS SLE protocol for real-time telemetry, initial real-time telemetry was received using the legacy delivery method due to a mis-configuration at JPL. Later in the track, receipt of real-time telemetry was successful using SLE delivery protocol. All SSR data were received. See DR# N107470 for more information. * On day 187 (Jul 6), the MOC SDS workstation was rebooted to complete the installation of a new RAID array disk drive at 2000z. External connectivity was restored by 2100z. Also the MOC archive server for BEHIND was rebooted to complete the replacement of a failed redundant RAID array power supply. * On day 188 (Jul 7), during the DSS 14 support for Ahead, real-time telemetry, using the CCSDS SLE telemetry protocol, was received successfully for the duration of the support. Subsequent supports will use the SLE telemetry protocol. * On day 190 (Jul 9), during the DSS 34 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly beginning at 2057z. This resulted in the loss of 4 frames of instrument SSR data. A DR has been requested. * On day 191 (Jul 10), the planned APL network outage occurred from 1100-2300z to replace core components of the network infrastructure. External connectivity was restored to nominal operations by 2300z. * On day 185 (Jul 4), during the DSS 34 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly beginning at 0812z. This resulted in the loss of one frame of instrument SSR data. A DR has been requested. * On day 188 (Jul 7), during the DSS 45 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly beginning at 0654z. This resulted in the loss of 44 frames of IMPACT and PLASTIC SSR data. A DR has been requested. * On day 188 (Jul 7), during the DSS 65 support for Behind, real-time telemetry, using the CCSDS SLE telemetry protocol, was received successfully for the duration of the support. Subsequent supports will use the SLE telemetry protocol. * The average daily SSR playback volume was 5.1 gigabits for Ahead, and 6.3 gigabits for Behind. Week 28 (Jul 11-17) * Behind will switch to the 160 kbps rate for 34 meter stations, and 480 kbps for 70 meter stations, starting with the station 55 pass on Jul 13. * Both spacecraft will have the 14th HGA calibration on Jul 13, with Ahead starting at 15:00 UT, and Behind starting at 16:00 UT. Preparation for the maneuvers will start about an hour in advance, and the procedure will take about 1-1.5 hours to complete. The spacecraft will be rolled by 0.5 degrees in each direction. * Behind will have the 33rd momentum dump on Tuesday, Jul 12, starting at 19:30 UT. * Ahead will have the 39th momentum dump on Thursday, Jul 14, starting at 15:00 UT. * Ahead has 480 kbps passes on Tuesday, Jul 12, and Saturday, Jul 16, both using station 43. There are 10 passes during the week, and overall coverage is 3.6 hours above nominal. * Behind has 720 kbps passes on Tuesday, Jul 12 (D43 and D63), and 480 kbps passes on Thursday, Jul 14 (D43), Friday, Jul 15 (D43 and D63), and Sunday, Jul 17 (D43). There are 15 passes during the week, and overall coverage is 4.1 hours above nominal. Week 29 (Jul 18-24) * The test of the 135 degree roll to observe comet Elenin from Behind is scheduled for Friday, July 22 between 12-14 UT. The MOC would like feedback from SECCHI within a week of the test. The rolls to observe comet will take place between Aug 1-12. * Ahead has 480 kbps passes on Monday, Jul 18, Tuesday, Jul 19, Wednesday, Jul 20, and Thursday, Jul 21, all using station 14. There are 8 passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. * Behind has 480 kbps passes on Thursday, Jul 21, Friday, Jul 22, and Saturday, Jul 23, all using station 63. There are 13 passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 30 (Jul 25-31) * The 18th SECCHI stepped calibration roll on Ahead is scheduled for Tuesday, day 207 (Jul 26), starting at 7:15 UT. This is the midpoint roll. System momentum is expected to be about 6 N-m-s. * The SECCHI stepped calibration roll on Behind has been moved ahead a week, because of the comet Elenin observations, and is also scheduled for Jul 26, starting at 9:00 UT. This is also the midpoint roll. * Ahead has 480 kbps passes on Monday, Jul 25, Tuesday, Jul 26, and Wednesday, Jul 27, all using station 63. There are 13 passes during the week, and overall coverage is 1.2 hours above nominal. * Behind has 480 kbps passes on Friday, Jul 29, using stations 14 and 43. There are 14 passes during the week, and overall coverage is 6.5 hours above nominal. Week 31 (Aug 1-7) * The launch window for JUNO opens at 15:26 on Aug 5. This is the first of several upcoming launches that will impact the STEREO schedule. If JUNO doesn't launch the first day, the Ahead pass on Saturday, Aug 6, may be reduced by 50 minutes. * The 135 degree rolls on Behind to observe comet Elenin will start on Aug 1. The rolls will be between 8-10 UT each day, except for Aug 5 and Aug 12, when the rolls will be between 10-12 UT. * Ahead has 480 kbps passes on Monday, Aug 1 (D14), Tuesday, Aug 2 (D14), Wednesday, Aug 3 (D63), and Thursday, Aug 4 (D43). Other * The mailing list server (listserv) at Goddard is being migrated to a NASA-wide server. This affects the mailing list used for the STEREO weekly meeting minutes, and for the Science Working Group. The new addresses for these mailing lists are stereo-sci-ops@lists.nasa.gov and stereo-swg@lists.nasa.gov respectively. * A question was raised about whether the recent Turbo tests with ESA stations had enough link margin for ESA stations to be used for STEREO operations. This question is still being looking into. * Penetration tests are upcoming at Goddard. Some concern was expressed about whether these tests would spill over to APL or instrument systems outside NASA.
