STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2011-03-01 (Week 09) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 8 * On day 053 (Feb 22), before BOT for the DSS 25 support for Ahead, the antenna was declared red as it was unable to be moved for the complete track. To avoid science data loss, the SSR pointers were repositioned during the next track at 1745z on the same day. This resulted in the PLASTIC partition overwriting beginning at 055-1652z through 1818z. See DR# G111109 for more information. * On day 054 (Feb 23), during the DSS 25 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost from 1351-1354z due to the station locking the downlink to a side lobe. To avoid data loss, the SSR pointers were moved to the beginning of track position after the telemetry outage. See DR# G111113 for more information. * On day 057 (Feb 26), at BOT for the DSS 25 support for Ahead, could not lock to the downlink for the complete track due to heavy snow. To minimize science data loss, the SSR pointers were repositioned during the next track at 058-1315z. See DR# G111129 for more information. * On day 058 (Feb 27), during the DSS 25 support for Ahead, the DCD anomaly initiated several DCD failovers to the redundant side at 1534z through 1615z. These anomalies resulted in the loss of 41 minutes of real-time telemetry. See DR# N107174 and G111025 for more information. The same thing also happened during the Behind pass on DSS 65 on the same day. * On day 055 (Feb 24), during the DSS 43 support for Ahead, MOPS disabled the playback of the SECCHI SSR2, special event partition #20, at 1928z. The Behind SSR2 partition was also disabled during the DSS 65 on the same day, at 1812z. Since then, another event was detected on both spacecraft, and SSR2 playback was re-enabled this morning (Mar 1) for Ahead, and at 17:45 UT yesterday (Feb 28) for Behind. * On day 052 (Feb 21), during the DSS 65 support for Behind, turbo decoder lost lock intermittently from 1929z throughout the track due to rain. This resulted in the loss of approximately one hour SSR data for all instruments. See DR# M106171 for more information. * On day 054 (Feb 23), during the DSS 65 support for Behind, the antenna brakes were applied several times from 1703-1721z. To avoid data loss, the SSR pointers were moved to the beginning of track position after the telemetry outage. See DR# M106174 for more information. * On day 057 (Feb 26), during the DSS 55 support for Behind, real-time telemetry was lost for 25 minutes beginning at 1801z due to a failed monitor data server. This resulted in the loss of approximately 25 minutes of real-time telemetry. All SSR data were recovered. See DR# M106187 for more information. * On day 058 (Feb 27), during the DSS 65 support for Behind, the DCD anomaly initiated several DCD failovers to the redundant side at 1534z through 1615z. These anomalies resulted in the loss of 41 minutes real-time telemetry. All SSR data were recovered. See DR# N107175 for more information. * The average daily SSR playback volume was 5.0 gigabits for Ahead, and 4.2 gigabits for Behind. Week 9 * The station 26 transmitter tripped offline at 14:19 UT during the Ahead pass yesterday (Feb 28). This resulted in the loss of a few minutes of SSR data. The uplink was not reswept since there was another pass coming up. * A new data handling system was uploaded to C&DH RAM today (Mar 1) for Ahead. The same will done tomorrow (Mar 2) on Behind. This is to add an additional APID 201 for IMPACT to the realtime DFDs. These will be written to EEPROM two weeks later. * Ahead has 720 kbps passes on Tuesday, Mar 1 (D63), Wednesday, Mar 2 (D14 and D43), Thursday, Mar 3 (D63), and Friday, Mar 4 (D43), for a total of five 70 meter passes. There are 13 passes, and overall coverage is nominal. * Behind has 720 kbps passes on Monday, Feb 28 (D63), Tuesday, Mar 1 (D63), and Saturday, Mar 5 (D14). There are 15 passes, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 10 * There is a proposal to change the Ahead track schedule during the week for antenna maintenance at Madrid. If the proposal is accepted, the 3 hour 70 meter pass using station 63 on Friday, Mar 11 will be replaced with a 5.7 hour pass using station 54. The overall track coverage would increase by 4 hours. * The 36th momentum dump on Ahead will be carried out on Tuesday, Mar 8, with ignition at 16:00 UT. * The 30th momentum dump on Behind will be carried out on Thursday, Mar 10, with ignition at 19:45 UT. * The SECCHI team points out that the momentum dump thruster firings do not appear in the weekly schedules. * Daily savings time in U.S. starts Sunday, Mar 13. * A return-to-service track on Ahead will be performed using station 15 on Friday, Mar 11, shadowing a track on station 26. Current plans are to perform the uplink and downlink on station 15, using station 26 as the shadow track. * If the proposed track changes go through, Ahead will have a 720 kbps pass on Monday, Mar 7 (D43). There are 12 tracks during the week, and overall coverage is 4 hours above nominal. * Behind has 720 kbps passes on Monday, Mar 7 (D43), Wednesday, Mar 9 (D14), Friday, Mar 11 (D14), and Sunday, Mar 13 (D14). There are 14 passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 11 * The data handling system release will be written to EEPROM on Thursday, Mar 17, on both spacecraft. * There is a a proposal for track changes during the week to assist the DAWN mission prepare for the Vesta orbital insertion in July. Two Ahead tracks on Monday, Mar 14, would be deleted in favor of a 70 meter track on the same day. Behind would loss 45 minutes from the station 45 pass on Mar 14. * If the proposed track changes go through, Ahead would have 720 kbps passes on Monday, Mar 14, Thursday, Mar 17 (D43), Friday, Mar 18 (D43), Saturday, Mar 19 (D14), and Sunday, Mar 20 (D14).
