STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2010-12-14 (Week 50) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 49 * On day 340 (Dec 6), during the DSS 65 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently at 0512z through 0637z due to heavy rain at Madrid. Later, the receiver lost telemetry lock at 0655z. A redundant receiver was placed on-line and telemetry lock was reestablished at 0711z. These anomalies resulted in the loss of an hour of instrument SSR data. See DR# M106076 and M106077 for more information. * On day 341 (Dec 7), the scheduled DSS 43 support for Ahead was only 1.2 hours in duration, vice the scheduled 5 hours, to provide support for the S/C emergency on the Akatsuki (Planet C) mission's Venus orbit insertion. This caused the in-situ instruments SSR partitions to overwrite beginning at 0021z on day 342 (Dec 8), thus resulting in the loss of two to five hours of in-situ instrument SSR data. * Some part of the effect of losing station 43 was mitigated by adding 3.25 hours of support from station 55. * On day 344 (Dec 10), during the DSS 65 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently at 0645z through 0647z due to rain at Madrid. This resulted in the loss of several minutes of instrument SSR data. See DR# N106907 for more information. * On day 345 (Dec 11), during the DSS 65 support for Ahead, the antenna was declared red before BOT, at 0450z, as it could not be moved. As DSS 54 was available at 0520z for 1.7 hours, it was used to minimize data loss. DSS 45 was added to start at 1738z for a duration of 2.7 hours. This caused the in-situ instruments SSR partitions to overwrite beginning at 0520z on day 346 (Dec 12) and again at 0126 on day 347 (Dec 13). This resulted in the loss of three to 14 hours of in-situ instrument SSR data. See DR# M106083 for more information. * On day 345 (Dec 11), during the DSS 26 support for Ahead, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently at 1307z through 1331z due to a procedural error at the Goldstone complex. This resulted in the loss of an hour of instrument SSR data. See DR# G110842 for more information. * On day 340 (Dec 6), during the DSS 65 support for Behind, turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently at 1821z through 1829z due to heavy rain at Madrid. This resulted in the loss of an hour of instrument SSR data. See DR# M106076 and M106077 for more information. * On day 346, during the DSS 55 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 1824z. This resulted in the loss of several minutes of instrument SSR data. * The average daily SSR downlink was 4.2 gigabits for Ahead, and 5.1 gigabits for Behind. * There was some discussion about the SWAVES-Ahead data for day 339 (Dec 5). There are a number of dropouts during the latter half of the day. It was decided that this was due to the intermittent dropouts on station 26 the next day due to heavy rain. A product showing a plot of bad frames will be available in January. Week 50 * An additional SECCHI stepped calibration roll for Ahead has been scheduled for Thursday, Dec 16, starting at 13:20 UT. This is to take care of a change in the COR1-A background. The system momentum is expected to be about 6 N-m-s. * The 28th momentum dump on Behind will be performed tomorrow (Dec 15), with ignition at 17:30 UT. * Telemetry lock was lost momentarily at 07:44 UT yesterday (Dec 13) during the station 65 pass for Ahead. * Telemetry lock was lost momentarily at 01:28 UT yesterday (Dec 13) during the station 26 pass for Behind. * Ahead has 720 kbps passes on Monday, Dec 13, using station 43, on Thursday, Dec 16, using station 43, and on Saturday, Dec 18, using station 63. There are 13 passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. * Behind has a 720 kbps pass on Wednesday, Dec 15, using station 63. There are 11 passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. * Because of the losses of station 43 and 65 last week, the in situ buffers have been full or close to full. The buffers are expected to be completely read out by Thursday (Dec 16). Week 51 * Christmas is on Saturday, Dec 25. Friday, Dec 24 is a holiday at APL. * Ahead has 720 kbps passes on Monday Dec 20 (D43), Wednesday, Dec 22 (D43), and Saturday, Dec 25 (D43). There are 14 passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. * Behind has 720 kbps passes on Monday, Dec 20 (D63), Tuesday, Dec 21 (D63), Thursday, Dec 23 (D14), and Saturday, Dec 25 (D43). There are 10 passes during the week, and overall coverage is 3.2 hours below nominal. * There is only a short 3.8 hour track for Behind on Wednesday, Dec 22. The in situ instruments may come close to filling the SSR buffers. The passes on either side are both 70 meter stations. Week 52 * New Year's Day is on Saturday, Jan 1. Friday, Dec 31 is a holiday at APL. * Ahead has a 720 kbps pass on Wednesday, Dec 29 using station 43. There are 14 passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. * Behind has a 720 kbps pass on Friday, Dec 31, using station 43. There are 12 passes during the week, and overall coverage is 1.75 hours above nominal. Week 1 * Ahead has two 720 kbps passes on Wednesday, Jan 5 using stations 14 and 43. There are 14 passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal * Behind has 720 kbps passes on Monday, Jan 3 (D63), Tuesday, Jan 4 (D43), Wednesday, Jan 5 (D63), Thursday, Jan 6 (D63), and Friday, Jan 7 (D63). There are 15 passes during the week, and overall coverage is 2 hours over nominal. Week 2 * The 13th HGA calibrations are scheduled for Behind on Wednesday, Jan 12, and for Ahead on Thursday, Jan 13, starting at 16:00 UT each day. These activities will last about two hours, and will involve rolls of 0.5 degrees. The track times have been extended to 7 hours, and SSR downlink will be stopped during the calibration. The MOC will confirm that the HGA calibration can be performed at 96 kbps. * Ahead has a 720 kbps pass on Monday, Jan 10, using station 43. There are 13 tracks during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. * Behind has a 720 kbps pass on Friday, Jan 14, using station 14. There are 14 tracks during the week, and overall coverage is 4.6 hours over nominal. Week 3 * The 19th momentum dump will be carried out on Ahead on Wednesday, Jan 19, with ignition at 20:00 UT. * The 16th SECCHI stepped calibration is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan 18, starting at 09:20 UT. This is the midpoint roll. * Ahead has 720 kbps passes on Tuesday, Jan 18, and on Wednesday, Jan 19, both using station 43. There are 14 passes during the week, and overall coverage is nominal. * Behind has 720 kbps passes on Monday, Jan 17, using station 63, and on Friday, Jan 21, using station 43. There are 12 passes during the week, and overall coverage is 3.3 hours below nominal. Almost all of the shortfall occurs on Thursday, Jan 20; however, this will be followed by a 70 meter pass.
