STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2010-07-20 (Week 29) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 28, July 12-18 Ahead: * On day 196 turbo decoder lock was lost intermittently beginning at 2305 UT, 2351 UT, and again on day 197 at 0121 UT. This resulted in the loss of 10 telemetry frames of SECCHI SSR data. * On day 196, the 12th HGA calibration was conducted. * On day 197, the 31st momentum dump was successfully executed at 1400 UT, which imparted a delta V of 0.073 m/sec. Behind: * On day 194,the PLASTIC SSR partition began overwriting at approximately 1842 UT due to insufficient track coverage. This resulted in the loss of 4.2 hours of PLASTIC SSR data. * On day 196, the PLASTIC and SWAVES SSR partitions began overwriting at approximately 1755 UT and 1947 UT respectively due to insufficient track coverage. Housekeeping data indicated that this resulted in the loss of 3.75 hours of PLASTIC SSR data and 1.9 hours of SWAVES SSR data. The SWAVES instrument team, however, does not see any lost data, so it may be it was downloaded before being overwritten. * The average daily SSR playback volume was 5.6 Gbits for Ahead and 4.3 Gbits for Behind. Week 29 July 19-25 * Yesterday (July 19) Ahead had a 7 hour 70 meter track on Jul 19, using station 63 in Madrid at 720 kbps. * There is a 3 hour track on Behind tomorrow (Wednesday, Jul 21). No spacecraft telemetry will be downloaded during this track. * The 25th momentum dump on Behind will be carried out on Thursday, Jul 22, starting at 17:00 UT. * Ahead coverage is 4.8 hours above nominal during the week, and Behind coverage is 8 hours above nominal. Week 30 * Ahead coverage is 4.5 hours above nominal during the week. Behind coverage is 4.8 hours below nominal, but the tracks are well spaced. Week 31 * Ahead will have a 70 meter track late on Aug 5, using station 43 in Canberra. This track will be carried out at 720 kbps. No spacecraft telemetry will be downloaded during this 3 hour track. * The 14th SECCHI stepped calibration roll will be carried out on Behind on Aug 3, starting at 14:00 UT. * Behind will have a 70 meter track on Aug 7, using station 43 in Canberra. This track will be carried out at 720 kbps. * Track coverage for both Ahead and Behind during the week is about even. Behind has 3 short tracks on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Spacecraft housekeeping will not be read out during these tracks. Week 32 * The 14th SECCHI stepped calibration roll on Ahead will be carried out on Aug 10 starting at 08:10 UT. The system momentum will be about 1-2 N-m-s. * Track coverage during the week will be about 4.7 hours above nominal for Ahead, and 1.8 hours above nominal for Behind, with good spacing. Week 33 * Ahead will have a 70 meter track on Thursday, Aug 19, using station 63 in Madrid. This track will be carried out at 720 kbps and last 3 hrs. * There are some short tracks for Ahead and Behind. No spacecraft telemetry will be downloaded during these tracks. * Behind will have a 70 meter track on Saturday, Aug 21 using the station 43 in Canberra. This track will be carried out at 720 kbps and last just over 6 hours * Overall track coverage for Ahead is 4.7 hours above nominal during the week. For Behind it is 3.1 hours below nominal, but no in situ data are expected to be lost. Week 34 * Ahead will have a 70 meter track on Thurs. Aug 26 using station 63 in Madrid. This track will be carried out at 720 kbps and will last 3 hrs * Behind will have a 70 meter track on Sunday Aug 29 using station 43 in Canberra. This track will be carried out at 720 kbps. * Overall track coverage during the week is 1.4 hours above nominal for Ahead, and 3.3 hours above nominal for Behind. Week 35 * Momentum dump #32 for Ahead during the week is scheduled for Aug 31 starting 13:30 UT. * There are several short tracks for Ahead during the week. No spacecraft telemetry will be downloaded during these tracks. * There will be a 70 meter track for Ahead on Sep 3 lasting 3 hrs, and a 70 meter track for Behind on Sep 1, lasting 5 hrs, both using station 63 in Madrid. These tracks will be carried out at 720 kbps. Other A new operations schedule has been issued and it now appears that STEREO will be able to maintain a data rate of at least 120 kbps through 2016. Behind will be able to maintain the 240 kbps rate until March 2011 and Ahead will stay at that rate until June 2011. STEREO will not be switching to 8 hour tracks in September as originally planned, although a few such tracks may occur anyway. The more optimistic forecast is based on less conservative assumptions concerning weather.
