STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2010-02-23 (Week 08) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 7 * Command bind was aborted at 13:22 UT during the station 24 pass for Ahead on day 52 (Feb 21) due to loss of connectivity to the uplink processor. The station maintained a 2-way communication link. It was decided to not try to reestablish command bind so as to not disrupt the science telemetry. Ranging data was lost at 14:10 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of three frames of SECCHI SSR data. * PLASTIC successfully commanded voltage changes on Ahead on day 47 (Feb 16). * The average daily SSR downlink was 6.2 gigabits for Ahead, and 5.2 gigabits for Behind. * SECCHI-Behind had a watchdog reset at 00:37 UT on day 51 (Feb 20). The instrument was recovered by 03:05 UT, and observations resumed at 04:00 UT. * Command bind was lost at 04:48 UT during the station 43 pass for Behind on day 51 (Feb 20). This affected the spacecraft portion of the recovery from the SECCHI reset, which involves cleaning up the autonomy rules. Command bind was re-established at 05:45 UT, and the recovery was completed by 6 UT. * The SECCHI team noted problems with commands not being verified during their recovery operations. To get around this problem, they would stop and try again, and the command would go through successfully. Their software has a 5 second timeout for receiving the verification. The MOC commented that they use a 10 second timeout. SECCHI will look into increasing their timeout. Week 8 * The 12th SECCHI stepped calibration roll on Ahead was carried out this morning (Feb 23), starting at 02:10. All indications so far are that the roll was successful. * The attended track for Ahead will be on Friday (Feb 26). The attended track for Behind is this afternoon (Feb 23). Week 9 * There is a 25 hour gap between Behind passes Friday to Saturday, Mar 5-6. Pointers will be moved during the pass on Mar 6. * The attended tracks will be on Wednesday (Mar 3) for Ahead, and Tuesday (Mar 2) for Behind. Week 10 * The 28th momentum dump will be carried out on Ahead on day 67 (Mar 8), with ignition at 15:30 UT. * Daily Savings Time in the U.S. starts on March 14. Other * The SSC will initiate a series of telecons with the instrument teams regarding the Science Operations Plan for telemetry rates below 96 kbps. Before these telecons can start, more information is needed about the anticipated dates for switching telemetry rates, and what rates will be available. * There have been some Earth-directed CMEs in the last few weeks. The SECCHI on-board software successfully detected one of these CMEs, which enabled the recovery of higher cadence data during the initial phase of the CME.
