STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2009-09-22 (Week 39) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * An additional power outage will occur in the SSC during the weekend of Sep 25-27. The STEREO SSC machines will be up, except for a 2-3 hour period at the beginning of the outage and 2-3 hours again at the end. That probably means 5-8 pm on Friday and 9 am-noon on Sunday. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 38 * Because of a planned power outage at APL on day 263 (Sep 20), the MOC was operating on the emergency generator. The generator failed during the station 15 pass on Ahead, and the MOC switched to the UPS. Several workstations were powered down to allow the UPS to hold out until commercial power was restored. The track was unaffected. * Command bind was lost at 18:30 UT during the Behind pass on station 55 on day 259 (Sep 16). This also happened during Ahead passes on station 55 yesterday and today (Sep 21-22). A similar problem was seen on station 55 a year ago. Behind was currently on station 55 at the time of the telecon. * The start of the station 45 pass on Behind on day 263 (Sep 20) was delayed 10 minutes because of a receiver problem. A spare receiver was swapped in, and all SSR data were recovered. This resulted in the loss of 10 minutes of real-time data, and the ranging data was not calibrated. * DSN contentions because of the LCROSS mission caused a number of shortened tracks, mostly on the Behind spacecraft. This resulted in the SSR partitions filling up for all instruments, with resulting loss of data, particularly for SWAVES. * The 18th momentum dump on Behind was carried out on day 259 (Sep 16), with ignition at 17:00 UT. A delta-V of 0.0602 m/s was imparted. * The average daily downlink was 5.5 gigabits on Ahead, and 4.1 gigabits on Behind. Week 39 * An intrusion detection system is being installed on the IONet this week. It will initially in bypass mode, and enabled next week. Instrument operations will not be affected. * Behind reached aphelion yesterday (Sep 21). * There are a number of shorter duration passes on Behind this week, but this should be offset by the existence of extra passes. * The uploading of G&C software load 3.2.6 to copy 1 has been delayed, until the pointing anomaly seen on Sep 10 is understood. * JOP 224, "Solar Tomography with Minimal Solar Rotation", starts on Sep 27, and runs through Oct 27. Week 40 * The intrusion detection system will be enabled. This may affect real-time operations for about 1 minute or so. * Messenger flies by Mercury on day 272 (Sep 29). * The 11th SECCHI stepped calibration will be carried out on Behind on Sep 30, starting at 18:10 UT. Week 41 * No significant activities planned.
