STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2009-08-03 (Week 32) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * The Ahead spacecraft will be reset this week to activate a new G&C flight software load. See below for details. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 31 * Telemetry lock was 35 minutes during the station 55 pass on Ahead on day 210 (Jul 29). All SSR data was recovered. * Telemetry lock was intermittent starting at 14:12 UT during the station 55 pass on Ahead on day 213 (Aug 1). This resulted in minor data loss for all instruments. * The 23rd momentum dump was carried out on Ahead on day 209 (Jul 28). Ignitition was 6 minutes late at 12:36 UT because of problems running the script at the console. This delay should not cause a significant error. The momentum was targeted to be near zero for this week's reset. For this reason, the momentum dump was performed earlier than usual. A delta-V of 0.0251 m/s was imparted. * The 7th HI 180 degree roll on Ahead took place on day 210 (Jul 29). * The new G&C flight software version 3.2.6 was written to copy 2 on Thursday, day 211 (Jul 30). * The average daily SSR playback was 6.5 gigabits on Ahead, and the same on Behind. Week 32 * The primary activity for this week is the flight software activation on Ahead. A three hour track starting at 5:45 UT will be used for ramping down the IMPACT and PLASTIC high voltages, and for loading up the time tagged commands to power down the instruments during the following track. * The flight softwre reset will begin during the 8 hour track starting at 09:40 UT on day 216 (Aug 4). IMPACT and PLASTIC will start going down at 9:40 UT, followed by SECCHI at 9:45, and SWAVES at 9:50. The actual system reset is expected to occur around 10:30 UT. Recovery will take longer than for Behind in May because of the extra 2 minutes of light travel time. Powering up the instruments should occur around 15:50 UT. The remainder of the track will be for instrument commanding. * Another 8 hour track is scheduled starting 10:35 on day 217 (Aug 5). Some additional spacecraft clean-up will occur during this track, but the majority of the track will be for instrument recovery. IMPACT, PLASTIC, and SECCHI plan to share the command link. * There is an additional track of 5 hours starting at 20:40 for instrument recovery, and another the next day (Aug 6) starting at 8:45 UT if needed. * The SECCHI team suggests that the time for polling the instruments for shut down readiness should be moved to later in the schedule. * A comment was made that station 45 should be checked to make sure they're status is green for the reset activities. * It was decided to use zero doppler compensation, since the calculated correction is so low. * SECCHI will be closing their COR1 and COR2 doors using their autonomy rule, rather than closing manually. This is a change from the previous reset on Behind. * The 7th HI 180 degree roll on Behind will take place on Wednesday, day 217 (Aug 5), starting at 15:50 UT. * SSR autonomy rules on Behind will be changed on Thursday (Aug 6) to take into account the increase to 6 hour tracks starting the following week. Week 33 * The track duration for both spacecraft will increase to 6 hours in preparation for switching to 360 kbps. The actual switch will occur for Ahead on day 229 (Aug 17), and for Behind on day 251 (Sep 8). This will maintain an RF margin of 2 dB. * The 8th SECCHI HI 180 degree roll will occur on Ahead on day 225 (Aug 13) starting at 01:50 UT. The expected system momentum is 5 N-m-s. * The Ahead track on day 222 (Aug 10) starting at 10:45 will be performed at 360 kbps as a test. Week 34 * Ahead will transition to 360 kbps starting on Monday, Aug 17. * Behind will have a short track of 4.4 hours on Thursday, Aug 20. Ahead will have 5.5 hour tracks on Friday (Aug 21) and Sunday (Aug 23). There was some discussion of short tracks. These are to be expected to continue given the competition for antenna time, and the fact that STEREO is now in the extended mission. In addition, the 26 meter stations will be closing down in week 36, leading to even more competition for the 34 meter stations.
