STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2009-04-21 (Week 17) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * After the regular STEREO weekly meeting, another meeting was held to discuss the plans for the possible G&C reset on Behind on May 12. Final approval is expected from Goddard management within the next few days. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal, except that the Ahead spacecraft is currently operating on IMU #2. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 16 * Real-time telemetry was lost for 2 minutes starting at 19:07 during the Ahead pass on station 34 on day 106 (Apr 16). The problem was determined to be a network server at JPL. * IMPACT uploaded a flight software patch to both spacecraft on day 106 (Apr 16), to remove STE-U from the telemetry, and adjust SWEA performance. * The station 24 antenna was stowed for 66 minutes during the Behind pass on day 105 (Apr 15) starting at 01:20 due to high winds. The command uplink was not reestablished to minimize further SSR data loss. Planned SECCHI commands went up the following track. * There was some discussion of the CONOPs for missed tracks. If no commands are received within the last 5 hours, then the pointers are not reset. The pointers were reset at the end of the pass on Apr 15 because command link was established at the beginning of the pass. * Behind was switched back to IMU #1 on day 105 (Apr 15), after being on IMU #2 for 7 weeks. * A sweep range test was successfully carried out on Behind on day 106 (Apr 16), in preparation for the upcoming G&C reset. The test used a frequency range of +/- 1 kHz, and had not problems locking. * The average daily downlink was 6.2 gigabits on Ahead, and g.3 gigabits on Behind. * SECCHI encountered an anomaly on their COR2-A detector last Friday (Apr 17), resulting in no images from that telescope. This problem was resolved by power cycling the camera electronics on Sunday (Apr 19). Week 17 * There will be an unusually long 34 hour DSN gap on Ahead between Wednesday and Thursday (Apr 22-23). The plan is to move the SSR pointers at BOT+1 hours and BOT+2 hours during the track on Thursday. * The 15th momentum dump is scheduled for Behind on Wednesday (Apr 22) at 3 UT, which is tonight local time. The intent is to be near zero momentum on May 12 for the planned reset. Week 18 * The third SECCHI 180 degree roll on Ahead is scheduled for Apr 28 at 19:50 UT. The system momentum will be around 7 Nm/s. No significant solar activity is expected during that period. Week 19 * Another long gap between passes (30 hours) will occur on Ahead between Thursday and Friday (May 7-8). The SECCHI team is considering whether they would like the pointers reset early as on Apr 23. * The third SECCHI 180 degree roll on Behind is scheduled for day 126 (May 6) at 17:50 UT. * G&C FSW version 3.2.6 will be loaded to Copy 2 in EEPROM on day 127 (May 7) in preparation for the anticipated G&C reset. Other * There was some discussion about whether a telecon should be held next week during the SOHO/STEREO workshop in Bournemouth, England. All the instrument teams will have representatives for a telecon, and it was decided to go ahead.
