STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2008-11-11 (Week 46) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * The APL network outage originally scheduled for November is now anticipated in January. * The DNS/DHCP servers at APL will be undergoing maintenance on Dec 13. Computers should continue to be accessible by IP address, but access by name may not be available while the maintenance is going on. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal, except that the Ahead spacecraft is currently operating on IMU #2. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 45 * On day 310 (Nov 5), during the Ahead pass on station 25, the antenna stopped tracking at 11:25 due to the brakes being set. Tracking was reacquired about an hour later. A few minutes of SSR data was lost. * Later, during the same Ahead pass on station 25, tracking stopped again due to a power outage at Goldstone. Tracking was reacquired after 54 minutes, and some additional SSR data was lost. * On day 311 (Nov 6), during the Behind pass on station 55, command bind aborted at 16:09 due to an uplink exciter problem at the station. This problem is a repeat of the problems previously reported for station 55. There was a loss of 11 minutes of command and tracking data, but no loss of SSR data. * The station 55 problem repeated at 14:55 UT during the Behind pass on day 314 (Nov 9), resulting in a loss of 24 minutes of command and tracking data, and a small loss of SSR data. * DSN reports that the station 55 equipment has been swapped with that of station 54 to diagnose the problem. * The station 46 transmitter was red during the entire Behind pass on day 314 (Nov 9). All SSR data was received. However, because the SSR pointers could not be reset, the SECCHI synoptic partition overfilled, resulting in the loss of 7 hours of data. * The average daily downlink was 6.3 gigabits on Ahead, and 7.3 gigabits on Behind. Week 46 * No significant activities. Week 47 * No significant activities. Week 48 * A momentum dump is scheduled for Behind on Monday, November 24, with ignition at 18:30 UT. * Thanksgiving is on November 27. * An extra track is scheduled for Behind on Friday, November 28. However, because this track starts just a few minutes after end of the previous track, the MOC intends to cancel it unless the SECCHI team wants this track. Other * The upcoming SECCHI stepped calibration rolls on both Ahead and Behind need to be shifted by a few weeks to avoid excessive momentum wheel speeds. Exact details will be provided by the MOC. * A UTC leapsecond will be applied at the end of the year. This adjustment will be applied on both spacecraft at the end of day 366 (Dec 31). The second represented as 23:59:59 will be repeated. New spacecraft clock SCLK files will be distributed to take this into account. * The SSC started experiencing problems retrieving data from the MOC server Saturday evening. The SSC computer normally used to connect to the MOC stopped being able to establish a link. Processing was switched to another computer which could make a connection. The cause of the problem is still under investigation.
