STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2008-08-12 (Week 33) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * A relocation plan for the instrument workstations from the current POC to the MOC has been sent out. STEREO needs to be out of the POC room by Sept. 1. To accomplish this, APL plans to move the instrument equipment by Aug. 25. Additional upcoming network changes at APL means that IP addresses will also need to change this fall. The instrument teams are considering whether they prefer to make all the changes at once, or make the move first with the current addresses, and then change to the new addresses. Teams working in the MOC will require escorts unless they've had a NAC performed. Alan Faber will coordinate the move. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal, except that the Ahead spececraft is currently operating on IMU #2. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 32 * Five hour tracks began on day 217 (Aug. 4) on both spacecraft. This was in preparation for the move to 480 kbps telemetry rate, which is scheduled for September 15 on Behind, and October 13 on Ahead. * On day 217 (Aug 4), command bind was interrupted during the Behind pass on station 55. This resulted in several SECCHI commands not being sent. These commands were sent up the following day. * On day 222 (Aug 9), command bind was again interrupted during the Behind pass on station 55. This anomaly was resolved by switching the JPL complex links. * IMPACT loaded an LET patch to Behind on day 219 (Aug 6). * The average daily downlink was 7.2 gigabits on Ahead, and 7.6 gigabits on Behind. Week 33 * PLASTIC will be performing realtime commanding on Thursday, day 228 (Aug 15), at 12:30 UT on Ahead, and 19:00 UT on Behind. * IMPACT will be performing realtime commanding on Behind on Thursday at 17:45. Week 34 * No unusual activities planned. Week 35 * Behind will reach aphelion on day 241 (Aug 28), at 20:00 UT. The SECCHI aphelion stepped calibration roll is scheduled on Behind on day 239 (Aug 26) at 20:15 UT. Other * APL is still examining the draft update to the science operations plan for the extended mission. They would prefer to have a single "full" realtime rate for each instrument, instead of the current table which is dependent on the total telemetry rate. * Last week, the only realtime beacon data arriving in the SSC was from the DSN tracks. The beacon station in Japan is down for maintenance and subsequent VLBI measurements. The stations in England and France were both experiencing mechanical problems. The Chilbolton station in England is now back up and running. * The SSC suspended SECCHI data ingest over the weekend because the Pillar RAID system used to store these data was full. Additional bricks were installed today, and the ingest has been restarted. * APL reports that an unusual number of SEUs have been seen on Ahead over the last week, and asks whether the instrument teams have seen any unusual solar activity recently that might be related.
