STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2008-08-05 (Week 32) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * Five hour tracks began on August 4th on both spacecraft. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal, except that the Ahead spececraft is currently operating on IMU #2. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 31 * On day 212 (Jul 30), the station 25 antenna stopped tracking at 06:00 UT for several minutes, causing a gap in the Ahead telemetry. * A test was carried out of the 480 kbps telemetry rate on Ahead on day 213 (Jul 31). The 5 hour track was 24 hours after the previous track. All partitions were played back except for the SECCHI special event partition, which ended the track with 59% remaining. The SECCHI synoptic partition was 79% full at the beginning of the track, and was completely read out. * The 15th momentum dump was carried out on Ahead on day 213 (Jul 31), at 20:20 UT. The burn duration was 3 minutes. * The transmitter went offline at 07:55 UT during the station 45 pass on Behind on day 210 (Jul 28). This resulted in 185 minutes with no ranging or commanding, and some loss of SECCHI data. * The station 24 transmitter was unavailable at the beginning of the Behind track on day 211 (Jul 29). Commanding and tracking data were restored at 01:08 UT. Some SECCHI data was lost when the uplink frequency was swept to reestablish the link. * The average daily SSR playback volume was 7.1 gigabits on Ahead, and 7.6 gigabits on Behind. Week 32 * Five hour tracks began on day 217 (Aug. 4) on both spacecraft. Week 33 * No unusual activities planned. Week 34 * No unusual activities planned. Week 35 * Behind will reach aphelion on day 241 (Aug 28), at 20:00 UT. The SECCHI aphelion stepped calibration roll is scheduled on Behind on day 239 (Aug 26) at 20:15 UT. Other * There was some discussion about moving the instrument POC equipment out of the current POC room across the hall to the TIMED MOC room. These POCs are used when the instrument teams are at APL, and are not used for routine operations. One opportunity for instrument teams to make sure their POCs come up correctly may be during the meeting at NRL in October. * Some reports have come in about successful eclipse observations from Joe Davila in China and Jay Pasachoff in Russia. However, a French team in another part of Russia was rained out. * Currently, the only realtime beacon data arriving in the SSC is from the DSN tracks. The beacon station in Japan is down for maintenance and subsequent VLBI measurements. The stations in England and France are both experiencing mechanical problems.
