STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2008-05-20 (Week 21) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * The telecom normally scheduled for May 27th will be cancelled because of the AGU meeting. * There is a planned power outage at APL on Saturday, June 7th, starting at 09:00 UT and ending at 04:00 UT the next day. This outage shouldn't affect the MOC, and remote commanding is expected to be available. However, instrument teams may wish to send commands before hand. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal, except that the Ahead spececraft is currently operating on IMU #2. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 20 * The station 45 transmitter went red just before the Ahead pass on day 134 (May 13). The track was switched to station 43. However, there were intermittent problems with the realtime telemetry because of IONet router problems. This slowed down the PLASTIC commanding, and caused some dropped SECCHI commands. The IONnet problem was resolved after the track. * Because of the delay in the station 15 return-to-service, a previously planned ahead track was cancelled. This caused the SECCHI SSR1 partition to completely fill on day 134 (May 13). Space was freed during the subsequent track, but the partition filled up again during the track. In all, about 5 hours of SECCHI data were lost. * PLASTIC-Ahead returned to its normal configuration on day 135 (May 14), after the ground command anomaly the occured the previous week. This commanding anomaly was traced to a leap year issue in the PLASTIC GSE software, and has been fixed. * On day 135 (May 14), during the Behind track on station 34, downlink was lost for about 30 seconds. Some SECCHI data were lost. * On day 136 (May 15), commanding and tracking was lost during the Behind track on station 24. Some minor data loss occured during the resweep. * The 9th momentum dump on Behind was successfully carried out on day 136 (May 15). * The average daily downlink was 7.2 gigabits on Ahead, and 7.4 gigabits on Behind. Week 21 * The transmitter was unavailable during the station 45 track last night (May 19) on Ahead. The data were downlinked, but no SSR space was freed. This morning (May 20) the SECCHI SSR1 synoptic partition was full. Space was freed during the track. * IMPACT is commanding new HET thresholds today (May 20) on both spacecraft. * Tomorrow, IMPACT will upload new LET software to Behind, and SWEA software to Ahead. Burst modes will be tested on both spacecraft. * G&C updates will be uploaded to both spacecraft for IMU drift. * A SECCHI stepped calibration roll was successfully carried out this morning (May 20) on Behind. Week 22 * No unusual activities planned. * The DSN is configured for the Phoenix landing on Sunday, May 25. If any of the instrument teams have comments on any solar conditions which may affect the landing, please send them to Bill Thompson. Week 23 * No unusual activities planned. * There is a planned power outage at APL on Saturday, June 7th. See the announcement above for details. Other * APL has submitted a new DSN loading profile, requesting that the track durations be increased from 5 to 6 hours once the telemetry rate drops to 160 kbps. * It has been discovered that the backup modems for the MOC were disconnected because of lack of use. There is a new modem pool being put together, but it is not yet online. * There was a discussion of the relationship between the MOC status reports and these weekly meeting minutes. It was pointed out that the MOC status reports are used to help prepare these minutes, and that they contain details not present in the minutes.
