STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2007-10-30 (Week 44) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * The U.S. will switch from Daily Savings to Standard time early Sunday, Nov 4. * The meeting for next week has been moved to Wednesday, Nov 7th to avoid a conflict with the multiple spacecraft conference. * The meeting for the week after next, normally scheduled for Nov 13th, has been cancelled because all of the instrument teams will be at the SWG meeting in California. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal, except that the Ahead spececraft is currently operating on IMU #2. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 43 * On Monday, day 295 (Oct 22), during the Ahead pass on station 15, some SECCHI commands could not be best because of a problem in the MOC queue management software having to do with swapping workstations. SECCHI retransmitted the commands and they were uplinked. A CR has been submitted. * The average daily downlink was 5.4 gigabits on Ahead and 6.7 gigabits on Behind. * The SWAVES 90/270 degree roll maneuvers were accomplished on both spacecraft on day 295 (Oct 22). Not much change was seen in the SWAVES signal during the roll maneuver. SECCHI managed to catch a known comet in their HI images during the roll. * SECCHI Ahead had a watchdog error on day 296 (Oct 23) and was recovered on day 298 (Oct 25). * IMPACT resolved their command response problem with SEP. The problem was tracked to a timer which needs to see a command at least every 97 days. * On day 301 (Oct 28), near the start of the station 55 pass on Behind, the command status switched to aborted. The command link was reestablished. * SECCHI closed the COR1 doors to avoid the Leonid meteor stream on Ahead on Oct 28th from 8-16 UT. They will also close the COR1 door all day on Wednesday, Oct 31. * PLASTIC shut down their entrance system for the Leonid stream on Ahead on day 301 (Oct 28) from 8-16 UT, and on day 302 (Oct 29) from 14-21 UT. * Neither the SECCHI nor PLASTIC actions for the Leonids corresponds to a sudden decrease in noise seen by SWAVES-Ahead around 19:30 UT on Oct 28. * The SUMER campaign starts on Friday, Nov 2, with JOP 197 starting Oct 30. The campaign will run through November 16. The individual STEREO-related JOPs making up the campaign are tracked on the STEREO planning page on the SSC website. There is now a link from there to the SUMER campaign page. Week 44 * Several transmitter dropouts were seen this morning (Oct 30) during the Ahead pass on station 24, resulting in some data loss. All commands were sent out successfully. * SECCHI will upload software patch 5.06 on both spacecraft on Thursday, Nov 1st. This will require disabling GT use momentarily. Week 45 * The nineth momentum dump on Ahead is scheduled for Nov 8, day 312, at 17:30 UT. Week 46 * Intercalibration JOP #1 (ICAL01) is scheduled for Nov 13-14. * SUMER campaign ends November 16. Other * A small number of intermittent frame dropouts from station 24 are still being investigated. This mainly affects the Ahead spacecraft. * Another SUMER campaign has been tentatively scheduled for April 21-May 16, 2008.
