STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2007-09-18 (Week 38) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal, except that the Ahead spececraft is currently operating on IMU #2. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 37 * Average daily downlink was 7.2 gigabits for Ahead, and 7.6 gigabits for Behind. * Selene launched early Friday. * There was a receiver problem on station 55 during the Behind pass on day 253 (Sep 10). Some SECCHI data were lost. Although station 55 also had problems in recent weeks, that previous problem was corrected, and is unrelated to the problem seen this week. It was remarked that station 55 is one of the newest DSN stations. Station 65 is currently planned to go down in November. Station 63, which is a 70 meter disk, will be used next week along with station 55. * A new PLASTIC table was uploaded to the Behind spacecraft on day 255 (Sep 11). However, the PLASTIC team plans to redo this table load. Week 38 * Nothing unusual planned. Week 39 * PLASTIC table uploads on Ahead on Sept. 24th and 28th. The upload requires at least two tracks, about 9 hours. * Momentum dumps will be performed on both spacecraft on day 268 (Sep 25), at 13:00 UT for Ahead, and 18:00 UT for Behind. * The first DAWN launch opportunity is on day 269 (Sep 26). A slip would most likely affect the Ahead schedule, but may also affect Behind. Contingency schedules have not been delivered yet. * SWAVES wold like to do uploads this week on both spacecraft. Would need about 2 or so hours. Week 40 * HGA calibrations on both spacecraft on Wednesday, day 276 (Oct 3), at 14:00 for Ahead and 16:00 UT for Behind. The tracks for these events will by 7 hours long. The motion will only be +/- 1 degree this time. Other * Schedules for later weeks are not available yet, and depend on the DAWN launch date. * There was a problem with the SECCHI space weather images backing up within the SECCHI processor, by as much as 3 hours. The SECCHI team changed their space weather packet rate to alleviate this problem. However, this caused some realtime spaceweather packets to be dropped, both from SECCHI and from other instruments. The SECCHI team has reversed this change, and is going back to an earlier version of their spaceweather product which doesn't take as much telemetry. * The STEREO Ahead spacecraft will pass through the Leonids debris field on Oct 29th, about one month before Earth. Calculations show that STEREO Ahead is expected to pass through the center of the debris field, while STEREO Behind should be significantly out of the trail. No significant problems are expected on the spacecraft, but information is being collected so that the instrument teams can assess how they might be affected by the Leonids.
