STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2006-12-19 (Week 51) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * Ahead spacecraft now in heliocentric orbit. * Opened SECCHI HI door on Ahead, and EUVI, COR1, and COR2 doors on Behind, all on Wednesday, Dec 13. * Opened IMPACT SIT and SEPT covers on Thursday, Dec 14. * The next planning telecon will be Tuesday, January 2nd, 12:30 P.M. EST. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 50: * The last perigee (P4) for both spacecraft occurred on Dec. 12. The first lunar swingby (S1) occured on Dec. 15. The Ahead spacecraft is now in heliocentric orbit. * Had DSN problems on day 345 (Dec 11th). Switched antennas to be able to command, but was unable to get tracking data. * Performed power test on Ahead on Dec 11. * Performed last MAG roll, with HGA slew, at perigee P4. Followed with HGA auto-track test. * Opened SECCHI HI-A and SCIP-B doors on Dec 13. * Performed momentum dump Dec 13. Ahead drift rate is now 21.65 degrees/year. * Deployed IMPACT-A SIT and SEPT covers on Dec 14. * Intermittent station monitor data problems were seen on both spacecraft. Does not affect telemetry data. * A number of factors delayed the downlinking of the SSR data from Ahead on Wednesday, Dec 13. MOps went to 720 kbps to empty the SSR and no data was lost. * Right now both spacecraft are transmitting at 720 kbps on the low gain antenna (LGA). Unless MOps can get the go-ahead to use the HGA, the telemetry rate on Ahead will drop to 480 kbps on Friday, Dec 29, and to 360 kbps on Jan 6th. The Behind spacecraft will stay at 720 kbps on the LGA until the end of January, except for period between Jan 13-17 (TBC) when the rate will drop to 480 kbps. * The Early Ops schedule is being updated to reflect these rates, and will be released soon. Other products where the downlink rate is published is the Weekly Schedule and the Track Plan. APL will provide total daily volume allocations for the instruments so that SECCHI can incorporate these into their daily planning. Week 51: * A SWAVES slow calibration roll was performed on Ahead on Dec 18, and two more are planned for Dec 20, and 23. A Behind roll was performed on Dec 19, and the other two will be in 2007 (days 29 and 32). * A time update was performed yesterday on both spacecraft. The time systems appear to be working quite well. * Tomorrow there will be an HGA calibration on Ahead, with a +/- degree roll about the X axis, and an HGA slew of +/- 2 degrees, to find the center of the beam. This test will take 2 hours. The track will start at 96 kbps, which will increase to 720 kbps on the HGA. There may be some data gaps if the signal strength falls too low. This test will be repeated January 4th on A, and Jan 12th on B. * There will be an S1+ maneuver on B Thursday at 16:00 UT. The total delta-V is about 11 m/s. The backup date is Saturday at 16:00 UT. This maneuver will allow a lunar transit to be observed from Behind, and will bring the maximum aphelion distance back within spec. There will be unattended tracks on either side of the maneuver. * An additional GT calibration on Ahead was scheduled for Thursday, Dec 21 at 12:00 UT. Immediately after this calibration, the GT will switch to a new table with a slightly different nominal pointing. * SECCHI performed a flight software load on Ahead yesterday. It took two tries, but the software load was successful. The software load for B is scheduled on the 26th. The biggest chunk is 150 kbytes. Week 52: * Each spacecraft will get one track per day. The track duration is about 4 hours on Ahead. * Only a few commands will be sent on Christmas day. Most of the track time will be unattended. The telemetry rate for both spacecraft will be 360 kbps on Christmas day. * A GT calibration on Ahead is scheduled for Dec 26th. The SECCHI team is considering whether they want to cancel this. Week 1, 2007: * The 3rd HGA calibration on Ahead is scheduled for Jan 4. * A SECCHI-driven EUVI flat-field calibration is scheduled for Jan 4, and a spacecraft-driven off-point for EUVI is scheduled January 5, both on Ahead. * The 1st SECCHI stepped calibration roll on Ahead is scheduled January 6. * A power tracking test will be performed on the Behind spacecraft Jan 2nd. This involves off-pointing the spacecraft by 45 degrees down in pitch for 30 minutes. Other: * The Early Ops schedule has a growing list of things we need to schedule. * GT commissioning is ongoing, and will be a major concentration for the immediate future.
