STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2026-09-01 (Week 36) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * After the initial loss of communications with the Behind observatory in September of 2014, NASA stopped periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 35 (Aug 24-30) * On day 237 (Aug 25), APL network engineers successfully performed the MOC IONET security scan from 12:00 to 13:00 UT. After the scans, the MOPs team verified the SLE telemetry and command connectivity with DSN. * On day 240 (Aug 28), during the DSS-54 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 07:13 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of three frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 7.2 Gbits during this week. Week 36 (Aug 31 - Sep 6) * Ahead has twelve tracks during the week, one at 720 kbps and eleven at 480 kbps. * The 188th momentum dump was conducted this morning, September 1st, at 13:00 UT. * Parker Solar Probe will be starting their perihelion pass on Tuesday, September 1st. Week 37 (Sep 7-13) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all ten at 480 kbps. * APL will be closed on Monday, Sep 7, for the Labor Day holiday. * The 30th Solar Orbiter remote sensing window begins Friday, September 11th. Week 38 (Sep 14-20) * Ahead has twelve tracks during the week, all twelve at 480 kbps. * There is a DSN mission network maintenance scheduled for Tuesday, September 15th, from 10:30-14:30 UT. Week 39 (Sep 21-27) * Ahead has fifteen tracks during the week, one at 720 kbps, fourteen at 480 kbps. * An ESA Malargue track is scheduled for Tuesday, September 22nd, from 09:00 to 11:15 UT. * An ESA Malargue track is scheduled for Wednesday, September 23rd, from 09:00 to 11:25 UT. Week 40 (Sep 28 - Oct 4) * Ahead has twelve tracks during the week, all twelve at 480 kbps. Week 41 (Oct 5-11) * Ahead has ten tracks during the week, all ten at 480 kbps. * An ESA Malargue track is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6th, from 08:45 to 11:05 UT. * There is a DSN mission network maintenance scheduled for Tuesday, October 6th, from 16:40 to 20:40 UT. * There is a DCD PIT test scheduled for Saturday, October 10th, from 18:25 to 19:05. There will be no SSR playback or instrument commanding during this activity.
