STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2026-07-07 (Week 28) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 27 (June 29-July 5) * On day 182 (Jul 1), DSS-23 conducted an engineering demo track. The purpose was to verify X-band Telemetry, Tracking and Command operations for the new Goldstone antenna. The MOC successfully received real-time telemetry, monitor data, and sent 15 commands via all three MOC command/telemetry machines. * On day 184 (Jul 3), during the DSS-53 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 06:29 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 46 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. * On day 186 (Jul 5), during the DSS-56 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 07:36 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of seven frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 6.7 Gbits during this week. Week 28 (July 6-12) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, two at 720 kbps, and eleven at 480 kbps. * There is a DSN mission network maintenance scheduled for Wednesday, July 8th, from 06:30-14:30 UT. Week 29 (July 13-19) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, one at 720 kbps, and twelve at 480 kbps. Week 30 (July 20-26) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 480 kbps. * On Monday, July 20th, there will be a return-to-service engineering demonstration during the DSS-23 track. There will be no SSR playback or instrument commanding during this track. * The 187th momentum dump is scheduled for Tuesday, July 21st, at 13:00 UT. * An ESA New Norcia track is scheduled for Tuesday, July 21st, from 20:15 to 23:20 UT. Week 31 (July 27-Aug 2) * Ahead has 9 tracks during the week, one at 720 kbps and eight at 480 kbps. * There is a DSN mission network maintenance scheduled for Monday, July 27th from 15:00-23:00 UT. Week 32 (Aug 3-Aug 9) * Ahead has 10 tracks during the week, one at 720 kbps and nine at 480 kbps. * The 80th SECCHI stepped calibration roll is scheduled for Wednesday, August 5th, at 05:10 UT.
