STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2026-06-09 (Week 24) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 23 (June 1-7) * On day 152 (Jun 1), during the DSS-53 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 06:10 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of twelve frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. * On day 152 (Jun 1), during the DSS-24 support, the antenna was declared red, due to a hardware problem. This anomaly resulted in the loss of two hours of real-time telemetry, commanding, tracking, and SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the subsequent DSS-55 track and recovered all the affected data. See DR #G126054 for more information. * On day 153 (Jun 2), during the DSS-55 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 05:21 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 50 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. See DR #M119180 for more information. * On day 153 (Jun 2), APL network engineers successfully performed the MOC quarterly IONET IT security scans from 12:00 to 13:00 UT. After the scans, the MOPs team verified the SLE telemetry and command connectivity with DSN. * On day 154 (Jun 3), during the DSS-54 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 04:52 and 04:57 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of seven frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. * On day 158 (Jun 7), during the DSS-54 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 11:42 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 97 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. See DR #M119197 for more information. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 7.3 Gbits during this week. Week 24 (June 8-14) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, four at 720 kbps, and eight at 480 kbps. * A DSN network maintenance event held last night from 00:00 - 04:00 UT (8-12pm local time) and went well. * The 186th momentum dump is scheduled for Thursday, June 11th, at 14:30 UT. Week 25 (June 15-21) * Ahead has fourteen passes during the week, two at 720 kbps, and twelve at 480 kbps. Week 26 (June 22-28) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, three at 720 kbps, and ten at 480 kbps. * An ESA Malargue track is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24th, from 08:20 to 10:45 UT. Week 27 (June 29-July 5) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, one at 720 kbps, and nine at 480 kbps. * On Wednesday, July 1st, there will be an engineering demonstration for DSS-23 at Goldstone from 16:00 to 18:00 UT. There will be no SSR playback or instrument commanding during this track. * APL will be closed on Friday, July 3rd, for the Independence Day holiday. Week 28 (July 6-12) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, two at 720 kbps, and eleven at 480 kbps. * There is a DSN mission network maintenance scheduled for Wednesday, July 8th, from 06:30-14:30 UT. Week 29 (July 13-19) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, one at 720 kbps, and twelve at 480 kbps.
